Resetting or rebooting the car via the battery will not harm anything nor will it deleat codes . You need a scanner to do that , buy your self an ELM327 scan tool , popular and cheep . You will need to get bluetooth or wifi depending on the device you plan to link with it .
Also if the codes are body or chassis codes elm327 will not remove them either, for those you'll need a more jaguar specific tool .

Ignore dash codes, if you mean the ones from ETM. It's a nuisance that they are reported as they only cause trouble.

Battery won't clear them and nor will almost anything else. Just ignore.

Next get something like an elm327. They're nearly free.

What specific codes do you see on the dash?
