2003 S-Type 3.0 Transmission problems
I was going to see if you had any suggestions for me. My transmission has had a problem from day one not down shifting back to first gear when coming to a stop. It slams back to first gear when you press the gas from a stop. While the car was under warranty the Jaguar dealership did all the upgrades and even changed the valve body on the transmission. It never really stopped doing this and recently we took the car to a certified Jaguar mechanic, and he did a JTB000440v3 update, which didn't help anything. We had taken the car to a local transmission shop (Aamco) and they determined that the tranny didn't require any rebuilding and thought it may be a programming problem also. We were going to take the car back to the Jaguar dealership and see if they can figure anything out this time. Do you have any suggestions what my problem could be? I was also wondering what the proper test drive that should've been after we had the JTB00040v3 update done, I don't think the mechanic did any test drive. I've also found a website called "TheLurch.com" and it's based on my same issue that i'm having, so I'm not for sure this is even fixable or not.I hope the dealership isn't going to bleed my hard earned money out of me , knowing the problem can't be solved.

I emailed you the info. Perform the drive cycle yourself. If you have to stop before end. Start over. Once you get the shifts at the correct RPM, make sure you do not move your foot from the throttle. Keep it steady.
Worst case, go to the dealer and insist that they call hotline to get coded transmission reflash.

I'm going to bet that you can do all the reprogramming and resetting and drive cycle calibrating that you want but nothing will fix this drastic issue but a new torque converter. I had reprogramming and software updates done and hard reset and drive cycle reset and it allways came back doing the same thing. My car would also shift into 1st gear after I was stopped and after the converter was changed it was gone right away. No re learning needed it just was fixed. Even the dealer commented on what a dramatic difference there was and also said that it usually takes some driving to get everything sorted out but that mine was good right from the start. I would push for the new converter.
I say this because this was the one issue that I could not get resolved ever since I got the car and was a huge anxiety for me. I thought it was never going to go away but as I said, It's gone!!
