2003 S Type fault codes
Hi all,
Engine light came on today. Just had the codes checked at Autozone, P1111 and P0456. I saw in another post that P1111 isn't really an error code and that it always shows up?? P0456 says "evap very small leak detected". Wondering if that could be bad gas cap? I've had the car three months, and when I got it I failed emissions due to a bad gas cap. Replaced it and passed, however the new gas cap seems wrong to me. The old one (that failed), clicked when tightened, and you could hear pressure release when opening. The new one turns about a quarter turns and stops, no clicks. Also, no pressure release sound when opening it.
Also, my CEL came on while idling for about 15 minutes in the AZ heat. Nothing noticeably wrong with how the car is running.
Anyone have this code before?
Thanks so much!
Karen

P1111 is good. You can read about any error code in the codes PDF in the stickies or in JTIS - both free downloads.
P0456 is in the same files. Could well be the gas cap, especially if you've no other codes (don't count P1111), but equally could just be a small evap system leak.
To see what others found, click Search (top menu) and choose Advanced. Put P0456 in the keywords then at bottom right scroll and choose just this forum. Choose Threads or Posts as you like. Have a read
Often the code comes with others and LTFTs (see below) are a big clue. You'd need an OBD tool with live data such as the very cheap ELM327 - about $15.
