Is 2003 S-Type fuel pump interchangeable with Lincoln LS pump?

OK so my 2003 S-type started blowing the fuel pump fuse F47 (15A). Car only seems to blow the fuse when it's freezing outside. Happened twice so far but the car ran OK for about a week when it was warmer. I replaced the fuel filter earlier this summer, about 2000 miles ago.
Other threads suggest my fuel pump may be going south so I started looking for a new one but to my horror I can't seem to find a new S-Type '03-'05 fuel pump for less than $500. No way I'll drop that much on it. The '03-'05 LS fuel pump is much cheaper, about $150. The specs and pictures look very similar. Does anyone know if the LS pump will work in the S-Type?

I also looked at the '00-'02 S-Type fuel pump but that seems to be quite different including inlet diameter. Unless it is possible to cannibalize the internals and remount them into the '03 assembly???

Any thoughts? Thanks
EDIT: Found this old thread which suggests the fuel pump assembly contains a standard Ford electric pump costing $50 or less... will go this route, hopefully it works.

May I suggest you go to Rockauto.com and compare the fuel pump part #s for both cars? If RA shows the same number for both the LS and the S-Type then most likely the same pump works in both cars. Check the JEPC to determine if '01 and '03 S-Types use same fuel pump, or again, check RockAuto.
But be advised that the '03 S-Type 3.0 has both a fuel pump and a fuel sender unit; don't confuse the less expensive sender unit for the more expensive fuel pump when shopping. Compare apples to apples is all I'm saying.
And it may be wise to replace both components at same time while you have back seat out and tank exposed. But that's entirely your call based on your situation. Good luck.
