RE: 2003 str horn not working....
Cassette reel or as most american mfrs call it, clockspring is bolted to steering colum behing wheel. It is a fixed piece with a rotating center that uses a electrical transfer ribbon so you can have audio controls, cruise and airbag at steering wheel. Only way to get the electrics up there. Anyway, next time the airbag light comes on, it should blink first. Count the first blinks, then there should be a pause, then second series of blinks. ie, blink blink blink pause blink bink blink blink would indicate blink code of 34. Then there will be a long pause and it will repeat. This will happen I believe 5 times then light will stay on solid. Let me know what the blink code is. Best bet is probably to go to dealer and get the code read and they will replace cassette reel. I think labor is 1.2 hours and part isnt that much. $150 maybe. They will plug it up and check the horn prior to reinstalling airbag. If still doesnt work, they can put horn contacts in at same time probably for extra 20 bucks or so.
