Default 2004 fuel pump

Has anyone ever replaced the factory pump with an aftermarket one?
I pulled the assembly out and applied 12 volts directly to the pump and it does not run.
I am not going to wait for 2 weeks while paying $350 plus shipping for a fuel pump to be delivered to Guam. There is a large JDM scene here so I am sure I can find a fuel pump of the appropriate size and fuel pressure flow to put into the stock assembly, however if someone else has done this already that would be great. I did a search and have not seen anything on this forum about it.
Just reaching out in hopes someone has done it so I can find out what pump was used....

Thanks. If I can't find anything by Monday, I will forge ahead and make it a DIY.

turns out the fuel pump used in these cars are a standard FORD in tank pump

I am buying a delphi version from NAPA in the morning and will follow on with photo's of the install....
$95 versus $300 sounds great to me!

Crickets.... Damn.
Morning here in Guam, off to get the fuel pump.
I'll post the Napa part numbers and the photo's on the assembly once I get it all buttoned up.

I am pretty sure there are cheaper alternatives back in the states for this fuel pump but I have carquest and Napa. And neither one stocks a decent selection of parts.mthey order what they think they won't hold onto forever

Just be sure it's the right pump.

You do know that the S type has two fuel pumps and they have different functions? Also if you have an STR it has a completely unique fuel pump set up unlike any other S Type.

They are also PWM driven so I hope the Ford pickup one is too. It's not like the old days where you put 12V on it and go.

There is also a module the drives the pumps. Are you getting power to the old pump?

Yea it has power. The fuel pump is the standard in tank pump used by the E series vans, f series trucks, and several cars.
It fits and works just fine. I took pictures with my phone and tablet so once i get them in one place i will write up the DIY

Certainly. It's nice to be the trailblazer for once instead of following others...

Had some pm's asking about how it is working.

Starts right up,
However, I damaged the intake manifold gasket putting it back together.
So I just disassembled it again this afternoon, and dropped in a new victor reins set.
Cranked for about 8 seconds and fired up.
Now I get a p1000 and p1647
Time to replace that drivers side upstream O2 sensor!

Got a few things more important than uploading photos on my plate with work and moving back to the states in 6 weeks. I'll get the DIY done shortly

That'll be a wideband, which sadly cost more than the older type.
