You had to push hard when using the wind-back tool (not cube)? I don't even see how you CAN push hard, since the tool exerts pressure as you turn the lever/handle (struggling for the word). Are you talking about a different kind of caliper or a different kind of tool, one where pushing can be done?
The lever/handle I'm on about resembles the one on a bench vice (vise).

Now it makes sense what you were saying! I need more coffee.

Hmm.. it was a while ago, but at the time I was under impression that only the threaded part was turning and thus also pushing the piston. It could be that the "body" part was also slipping and not staying put and I just didn't pay attention.

Thanks to everyone for the help with the rear braked!
I finished up with the rear brakes on my S-Type today, thanks to a lot of help from the great flks on the Jaguar Forum. Once I found out I needed a special tool I went to AutoZone and rented one. From then on it was straight forward except for the EPB, Electric Parking Brake. I inadvertently activated it twice but no big deal. I recall in reading the posts that the EPB had to be set so I was not surprised when the Jag started beeping as I was about to go for a test drive. Went back into the house and on to Jaguar Forums and came up the procedure for setting the EPB. Followed the directions and went for a ride and everything works fine.
I enjoyed Working on the car and saved man hundreds of dollars.
Also, not to be discounted my wife was impressed and had to eat a little crow. She had not hesitated to say she thought it was too big a job for hubby to tackle. Ahh, sometimes life is sweet.
Well I think I'll reward myself wit a little Remy Cognac.
As an aside I have one of the JTIS CDs. It loads but it does not seem to have all the functionality. There was almost nothing on Brakes except a couple explosions and a very basic procedure. there was nothing on the EPB. Is that just mine copy or are they all kind of useless?

Thanks everyone, the brake job is done, calibrated and tested. I have a couple of hundred miles on the car since the job was finished and everything seems fine. This forum is the greatest. The best part of the story is that my wife is having fun bragging to her friends how her husband (me) replaced the brakes on her car. Life is good! Have to run, I was just informed that it is time to take out the trash.
