Default 2005 Radio and Climate Control Display

Made an odd discovery today while driving my new-to-me 2005 S-Type. I don't have the Navigation System, BTW.

The climate control display becomes unreadable with my sunglasses on ! Now that's weird. No such problem with the radio display. I was thinking it must be some sort of anomaly with how my lenses were "Polarized" or something.

But....

The climate control display is a bit dimmer than the radio. From reading archived posts I'm gathering that this is normal operation? If not normal, at least a common fault? True? I've also gathered that there are bulbs to backlight the buttons...but not for the display itself?

All the buttons and dials function correctly for both Climate Control and Radio; everything is fine operationally.

Thoughts?

Cheers and thanks
DD

Many, many moons ago. Joyce's S Type climate control dimmed down when headlamps are burning. Dash, radio work correctly when dimmed or bright, cc stays dim.

I half heartedly looked at cc unit but said the hell with it. The vehicle isn't driven that much at night anyways.

It won't be a priority for me to resolve. I anticipate the system will be set to Auto at xxx-temp and pretty much remain there most of the time. But, still, it seemed odd.
