Default 2005 S-type R couple Questions.

I Just purchased a 2005 S-type R and I have a couple questions about it.

Brakes:
I know the front rotors are 355mm and I have found them on the internet but the rear rotors are giving me hell.

Are the Rear Rotors on a SUPERCHARGED S-type R supposed to be SOLID (non-vented)?!?!

What the hell, how are the rotors on the standard S-types vented and the R has a solid rotor? OR are the rotors that are on the vehicle wrong?

BTW, It does have the brembo brakes.

Steering:
I have a Jaguar Select warranty and long story short when i bought the car the steering wheel was a little off center. So i took it in and they aligned it. Well today i have it up in the air for an oil change and the guy at the oil change place points out how the Left Inner tie rod IS BENT! The Dealer Aligned the car WITH A BENT INNER TIE ROD? I don't even want to take the car back there seeing how ignorant they are.

Where can I get an Inner Tie rod so I can just take it to a Local import mechanic to do.

Thanks for any help!

T.C.

Hey there, I don't know what to say about your tie-rod situation but I can give you some insight into the braking system.

The Brembo's on the R versions of the S-Type's and XJ did have a solid rear disk up until 2006. I think 06 was the year they revised the braking system and gave vented disks all around. The calipers became single piston verses four piston the 04's and 05's. I believe the overall brake disk size also decreased.

Thanks for the info but those sites don't tell me anything that I am not already aware of. I need to find some rear rotors for this car most importantly.

Do a quick search of the forum. A couple of people here have had good experience with some online brake vendors that carry the STR hardware front and rear...

Oh yea... To answer your question. Yes, your car is supposed to have solid rear rotors.

The fronts are solid? That's different. Haven't seen that before. Man I love finding out about the odd stuff. But then I guess thats why I'm a gear head!

I went to the dealer on the Inner tie rod and they are giving me some static saying that I was the one to do the damage and its impossible for me to have a straight driving car with a bent inner.

I did find out that the Inner tie rods, albeit unavailable from Jaguar they are infact available at Ford. Have them look up a Lincoln LS of the same year and the inners are the same.

I found the rear rotors for 70 a piece on the internet and for 100 each at the dealer so I am just gonna get genuine jag rotors for the back. the fronts on the other hand i will be getting on the internet, the dealer wanted 200 each for them and I got em for 80 each from racepages.com

On another note Has anyone used EBC greenstuff pads on these cars?

I got a crazy deal on them from work (4.90 for the rear set.) and found the fronts on ebay for 49.99.

As a heads up IF you have a STR and want cheap rear pads go to Pep Boys and have them look them up for you. They are discontinued and on clearance for 4.90 for the rear set!

Thanks for the help guys.
