2005 xkr

Today I test drove a 2005 XKR, $22,400, 43k miles, convertible, black on black, had minor blemishes...just curious. Somewhat stiff ride and a noticeable amount of "less power". My 03 STR can blow its doors off soup to nuts. She's putting out a substantial amount of power over stock. Still, I wouldn't kick the XKR out of my garage.

LOL! Chris you dog. That is exactly what I was thinking when test driving the XKR..."Would my girl be jealous? I flat out told the car lot owner my STR was both in better shape and could bury his 05 XKR. The air bag warning light was on and I asked him if she was in an accident. There was signs the rear was re-painted plus a few other suspicious items indicating prior accidents. He produced a clean CarFax but I told him most car accidents are not reported but deferred to private shops for repair without a report sent in. He looked like he didn't like me thereafter. Otherwise, you were Spot-On with my superstition. Did you read up on my 2011 Dodge Charger SRT8 kill?

Chris, the Dodge Charger SR8 must have been a 2010 or early 2011 cause it wasn't the 392 cu./in. 470 hp unit, a 392 badge would have been on the side of the front fenders. There was a period during our run when we had slow down (LOL!). I let the Dodge catch up, then we went at it again. I jumped on it again and glimpsed 135 mph just a short time after, with enough power in reserve to bury it within a minute. Yes, when the intercoolers are cool, she runs like a bear. When cold, it wouldn't surprise me if she's puttin out 450+ hp and at or close to 500 lb/ft trq. The mafioso air intake elbow, 3 lb. pulley, and full exhaust mod really allows this motor to show another side of its personality. A "Chiller Killer" would be greatly appreciated cause the power was beginning to come down the last third of this match. The tuner from California is coming to NY end of next week. I'll keep you posted. Speed kills guys. I fully understand I'm a dopey street warrior (have been since the late 70's) and in no way condone anyone else to do what I described to Chris. All my speed competitions are performed on an empty road. Only a few of my inner circle and just a few of my street warrior patients understand mine/ours quest for speed. This fall I hope to run her at a track instead (get my jollies). In general, please drive carefully and respectfully.

Curious too...Was the XF too plush-less sporty? Though write-ups claim the 05 XKR has a slightly stiff ride, the one I tested had a malfunctioning CATS system, so it would be unfair for me to critique its ride. The STR with H&R Sport lowering springs IMO both gave it a more aggressive stance and changed it from a "Too soft for sport" to "Just right" for cruising and sport.

Well I felt the XF was not right for me
Cons:![Icon Urinal](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_urinal.gif)
*It felt to bulky inside
*interior was not cool at all (the Blue light trimming around the buttons was a great hand warmer though
)
*Front looked like my grandmas 300m Chrysler (And Im talking about her 2001 lol)
*No glove compartment
*thumb noise once I put it to D or R (transmission) wasnt smooth!!!!
*Road noise going over 50MPH
*Navi not user friendly and very slow
*Backing up was some what hard due to small window frame it as, blocking visibility.
*Not fast enough hahahaha, But quick.......
*Didnt feel that sporty suspension when cornering (to soft so I had to be cautious) yes bfsgross, it was plush-less sporty.... its more just to cruise around (I drive a bit aggressive)
*Oh and it had a "DO NOT SMOKE INSIDE $100 FINE" sticker!!!!! lol. Its a rental!
Pros:![Icon Teeth](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_teeth.gif)
*ACM
*Exhaust tone (very deep)
*Exhaust tips
*Good surround system
*Push Start button
*Lots of trunk space
*Color was cocaine white (Guy from Home Depot told me that, and imagine were in Miami)
*It wasnt my car!!!!
Cant get much details (im at work) but it was fun overall to drive, I wouldnt buy one though, sorry XF drivers..... I miss my STR>>>>![Icon Hyper](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_hyper.gif)

Glockjag, yer too funny dude. Aside from yer FX critique being very informative, it was fun to read too. Though the 05 XKR is nice to look at and feels real cool to be inside, IMO, the STR is nicer to look at, more comfortable to drive. Both are approx. the same weight, but IMO a stock STR feels like the faster car. Again, this 05 XKR needs some exterior and mechanical TLC, so a bit of a handicap needs to be built in here. I'd have both parked side by side in my driveway.
