Do a carfax on it first. Assuming it passes that, it may be a good deal. Get an inspection. If its a 2006 S-type, I'm jealous.

Carfax has been proven to be less than accurate. Take a trip, have a mechanic look at it and if all is good, take it!

Everyone knows the ole cleche's "If its to good to be true" and "You get what you pay for".

My money is that the vehicle had been wrecked or stripped. Are there pics that go with the vehicle? Is it on Ebay, Craigs etc..?
I agree with Enthusiat "Carfax has been proven to be less than accurate"!!

Plus 1 more thing being a New York vehicle, I am sure it has been through a winter or 2 with the the mileage indicated. Lots of crevices for salt to hide in especially with the underbelly of these S Types that are all paneled underneath.

Not to sound like a downer, but it just doesn't seem like a legit deal. I bought my 05 with 29,000 about 7 months ago for 16,000 and I was told that was a great deal. I have been looking at the prices of the S-Types even after I bought mine it is though finding 06 or newer under 18-19k (in South Florida). I

LOL i love your details area, that dealer has bad advertising he just uses a check box deal to fill it in for them....theyre LAZY

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...aptcha=success

PLEASE NOTE IT SAYS PRICE IS AFTER $3k down or equity, maybe u already talked to them at the advertised price itself, not sure

Who said the car has a warranty? According to the information it would still have until Feb 2010 BUT it is over 50k miles therefore no warranty unless it has the Select Edition extension

Also both Carfax and Autocheck are clear, this doesnt mean the car cant have 10 different coats of paint though.

Id say if there is a warranty extension then def go for it!

I would say maybe. As bmw745ion19s mentioned earlier, the price includes $3K down payment or equity. If you can get the warranty included as part of the purchase price, then pursue it. If not, pass on it since it is a NY car with 2 winters on it. Also, you have to factor in travel costs as well as FL registration and safety (if any) inspections. You should be able to find as nice or nicer car in FL.

If this car is not from a Jag dealer, the warranty most likely will be for 30 days or 1000 miles. Your trip home will chew up most of that.
There's another thread here about one considering a purchase from a non Jag dealer. I went to one of the used car lots where a green STR was for sale and it looks like that dealer just buys repo's/auction cars with the warranty I mentioned above.
I also suggest getting one from a Jag dealer and with the CPO 6 year 100,000 mile warranty.
