Default 2006 s type gearbox fault

I have a 2006 s type diesel v6 91000mls a few week back I got abs/dsc fault I had this checked out need wheel sensor also showed gearbox fault. advised replace battery faults cleared but still have asb/dsc fault.had to go on holl when I came back my mechanic on holl. one month on gearbox fault back. when I put in drive or reverse the gearbox clunks/bangs also suspect in restricted performance due to wont go over 50mph on motorway at 3000rpm still on 3rd or 4th gear im not sure but wont change up. booked in at a gearbox specialist Monday as jaguar over the phone said sounds like gearbox internal fault they don't repair only replace 4000pound any advise welcome worried at potential cost

Have you changed the transmission fluid or verified the level?

Get the ABS/DSC fault fixed to confirm it's not as bad battery or related electrical issue.

being told wheel sensor being fitted in a nutshell is wheel sensor is faulty the gearbox dosnt know what the wheel is doing I,e if your cornering a autobox wont change gear according to the mechanic makes sense. so with a wheel sensor not working the gearbox no idea what the wheel speed is so will shut down or limp mode. ill update later when sensor has been fit. if its the gearbox looking at 1800pound rebuild
