Default 2006 sport 3.0 s s type 84000 km lurch is back again

Good afternoon everyone. I had my car @ the dealership back in Feb of this year...they flashed the computer...performed all updates and said drive easy not in sport mode for 250km...I followd the rules...It seemed not to be as bad for awhile...but its back worse then ever.
I am under warranty with EasyCare...and have the best package avail. What is the next step? Has anyone here had their tranny replaced cause of this issue?
Thank you in advanced..

I don't think there is any permanent fix. Much like my better half has come to love my own personal imperfections, I've learned to live with those of the Jag.

One question: After that mileage, has the transmission fluid been changed for something better?

I agree with Leedsman. Check your service records and look at the last time the trans and torque converter fluid was changed. If said fluids have not been changed lets say in the last 50K then have that service done...no down side except $$$.

I bought this car with 74000km on it....and the passport to service had all stamps....I just did the 80 000 service and got the stamp for that also.
This is not listed so I doubt its ever been changed. Roughly how much am I looking @ for both services to be done and why wouldnt it be in the book to do it? I had the car in while it was under warranty and they told me all fludis are fine....thank you.

Hi Sixx, the atf fluid for Jags is beset with lots of controversy. In the handbook it says the ZF transmission is "sealed for life" -- well, it ISN'T. Apart from that, the statement is meaningless -- life of what? And it's been made difficult to change the fluid, for which is charged an astronomical and unwarranted price, for fluid which is questionable in quality. Uninvolved fluid manufacturers such as Castrol say atf should be changed around 50,000mile as the additives get depleted by the v. high temperatures around the impellor tips. The fluid itself degrades too, again with temperature. There are lots of postings in this website on how to do; I had mine changed with a full synth. meeting Dexron VI spec. Was Mobil. It's also a VERY good idea to use an additive along with the change, I used Forte (accent on the final 'e') as you can't get all the old fluid out, the torque converter is still full after draining. This simple change of fluid, not rocket science or computer engineering, cured my gearbox of noise and malfunction problems around the torque converter's lockup clutch, and some juddering in one of the clutch packs shifting 2 to 3 gear. The cost isn't too bad, it was £66 for 8litre atf, £14 for additive, £86 for labor. The only real prob. was finding someone to do it (you need a lift) as many mechanics here are scared to death of Jags. I've done several hundred miles since, NO probs. at all. Now -- I'm not saying changing the fluid WILL cure your probs., but it's a reasonable step don't you think?
Leedsman.
ps. Jaguar made a blunder with that Nikasil bore coating, and it cost 'em dear. They've made another with this gearbox and making it so difficult to change the fluid. It's even spawned a website called "The Lurch.com" which must have done a lot of damage to Jaguar's reputation. To be fair, it's the fault of ZF, but then Jaguar DID elect to use ZF.

Default Had my 03 Stype trans serviced at 98K an no more lurch!

My o3 had the lurch, but I don't know for how long. I just bought the car in April. Took it to the Jag Shop in portland and had it updated with the latest programming and then had thenCraig said, the 90K transmission service has never been done. That should fix it. Had it done, no more lurch. That's what I'd do as soon as possible. That will most likely help for starters.

Are you guys saying that a fluid change fixes the lurch once and for all- this is first handed, long term experience?

I would be very surprised if a fluid change resolves the lurch 100%. It may make for smoother shifts on a general basis after the vehicle passes 60,000 miles or so, but I doubt very seriously if just a fluid change absolutely cures the lurch on a permanent basis....

I am more open now to considering a fluid other than the Shell 1375.4 mineral oil-based fluid that ZF requires. A 100% synthetic may indeed provide for better transmission operation immediately as well as long-term, but I believe you should wait until your vehicle is beyond whatever warranty you have before you make the decision to take that risk. With our S-Type now closing in on 47,000 miles, I have plenty of time to do more research and continue to chart the pros and cons of trying something other than fresh ZF Fluid when the time rolls around for an ATF change. Our S-Type has never suffered from the lurch as described on the website, but it may be in the minority. As our factory fill of ZF Fluid continues to age, who knows what may happen....

You know what....since I am under warranty total care easy care....and as long as I follow the book ....no one can say a thing....since the book says FILL FOR LIFE....I am not investing a dime... I have till Feb 2013 or 140 000km....prob best to get rid of the car after the warranty is up as it will prob cost me just as much to buy another used one....Thoughts on this idea?
