So I P.D.Id an '08 basic S-Type.

Everything is basically the same as the '07's with one major difference.

The "R" front bumper is now standard on S-Types. I wonder if the '08 S-Type Rs are getting a new front bumper.

 

I dont like the fact the R front grille is now standard for S types, whoever came up with that brilliant idea obviously failed to realize they would annoy a bunch of their R owners...well me at least

 

Don't be so bitter JagSTR, you have nothing to envy us regualr S owners, except our gas mileage.

They realized it would annoy STR owners. This is how most companies work:

Board wants ideas to do SOMETHING different/special for the last year without costing more. Some exec comes up with the idea to use the STR as it's the same material thus costs almost the same. The exec delagatestasks tomiddle management.Marketing holds focus groups, asking random people whichcarlooks better, STRor standard? Obvioulsy STR will win, let's say70% prefer it. The next task to run it by accountingwho use a complex foruma. 70% of peoplelike thebumper translates to a projected8.578% increase in sales. Exec takes his idea and info to theBoard to vote.The board reviewsall ideas and decides to green light thelittle to no cost difference of theexisting STR bumper, to keep it"fresh".

Or maybe a worker got really drunk and accidently created 5000 STR bumpers instead of the standard one, who knows...

Here's an interesting site about the 2008 S-Type and the 2008 XF - seems as though they have the S-Type replacment (XF) ready to go early in 2008.

The 2nd (with 2008 Car News banner) and 4th (with the tarp on the trunk) photos are the real XF which is replacing the S-Type, as I understand it. Other pics are of the concept car which was used for this 2008 model. Click on the pages 1 amd 2 of this site for some detailed pics of the real thing - looks like a coupe from the side view!

 

Lots of good and bad, I think if they should ofreduced the diameterouter headlamps so it blends in. Also think the sides of the grill should slope a lot more, even turn it into a triangle like most acura grills...Is this one of the first later model four door jags to lose the hood leeper? Also noticed they added a rear jaguar outline to the back. I like that.

 

I think that when we see one of these coming down the road we're going to say WOW! what was that? I think it is very hot!!

 

If my car looked like an acura i would def not buy one lol prob ruin the whole brand for me, if i was an 05 up s type r owner id be pissed they even offer the same wheels! I just hope the new design isnt so radical and sticks with classic, conservative jaguar styling...im prepared to switch to an XJ/XK R or E AMG/M5 when i sell mine if need be though

 

I would much rather have it look like an acura vs theKia Amanti...Kia copied the S-Types design...
