Default 2008 S-Type Rotor and Pads

Does anyone have any suggestions for after market front and rear rotors and pads. My 2008 S-Type will need a refit in the near future

I'm running Wagner ThermoQuiet pads on both of our Jaguars as well as on my Ram pickup. They're quiet, long-lasting, have a quick bite, create little dust, and are reasonably priced from rockauto.com. I think they're the best bang-for-the-buck brake pads on the market. All of our rotors are original so I can't help you there....

I highly recommend EBC pads and rotors. I purchased EBC rotors and their "Red Stuff" pads for my '03 3.0.

They were recommended by Brutal in a post, so I figured if he likes them, I have to give them a try.

A couple of months and about 800 miles, and they stop better as they age ( bedding in process?).

Anyway, well worth it, and the smooth, effortless stopping makes the car feel like new!

For my 2003 3.0 S-Type...
Raybestos Professional Grade rotors (rockauto.com: $130 delivered), Akebono Premium Ceramic pads (eBay-TrueBlueParts: $126 delivered). Very happy...no noise, virtually dust free, great stopping power.

For my wifes 2005, 3.0 with somewhere in the vicinity at the time 60k give or take a few thousand miles. Auto Zone Duralast Ceramics, cannot remember the cost but definitely not expensive pads front and rear (ceramics = very little brake dust). I had the OEM rotors turned which was a light removal of wear for $10.00 each. Yeah go ahead and flame me for turning my rotors but, I would rather have OEM rotors turned than spend $25.00+ each for cheap Chinese crap replacements.

My 3 cents......... Inflation, ya'll know.

I'm more frugal than you and don't throw the $10 away by getting rotors needlessly turned.

It really isn't required 95% of time.

Ah. I've been spending my allowance on single malt scotch to get a similar warm fuzzy feeling. Cost a lot more than $10.

I'll try your method

Come to think of it, turning rotors on a routine basis seems to be unique to North America. Since the practice never caught on in the UK, do you think that's why they invented Scotch?

Excellent plan Mikey, I'm thinking Rick could be persuaded to try your method.

The Scots invented Scotch long before the UK was invented.

The Scots certainly invented Scotch, but the Irish invented whiskey.

In the interests of keeping the peace, I drink both.

Well, then come on down here for some good Kentucky corn whiskey

But, really, my favorite sipping whiskey is still (Canadian plug) Crown Royal (and I have so many many uses for the cute bags... ;-)

I'd enjoy that.

Since you mentioned CR, not sure if were aware that their Northern Harvest Rye was recently chosen as world's best whisk(e)y by a noted critic. I'd bring you a bottle- if I could find one to buy. Shelves are stripped bare across the country.
