Hi all,

I could really use some help with 2x S Types that have transmission faults. One is mine the other is my dads.

The first one has 135,000m on the clock and untill now has never had transmission issues. The other day there was a noise coming from under the car that sounded like a leaf in the heater fan and changed pitch with speed. The following day he went to drive the car and it had no torque. The car would drive 200yards then completely lose all drive. After stoping and turning the engine off he could get another 50 yards before all drive was lost. We havent taken it to a Jaguar main dealer because from past experience they only change not repair gearboxes. A jaguar specialist ran diags and all he managed to tell us was there was no drive in 1,2,3,4 which we already knew. We have been told by an AA mechanic that the noise sounds like the pump in the box and that there is not enough oil. After putting about 1 litre int he box it still hasn't resolved the issue. Does anyone have any ideas??

The second one has 140,000m on the clock but has had issues in the past. For about the last 15,000 every now and then when accelarating the gearbox would slip a gear between 2 and 3 i believe and hit the rev limiter. It never really cased an issue as putting it into manual 4th soved the issue and it would drive all day without slipping. Slowly the delay in picking up a gear from neutral to drive (D) became a pain nearly 10-15secs so I've been starting the car in manual without issue for a while. Last week however for no reason I lost the ability to put the car in reverse or neutral ans its always locked in gear. It goes forward without issue as fast as its ever been but won't go into neatral or reverse. Anyone have an idea??
