Where's Jeff (JOswoth) when we need an explanation.

Nice looking vehicle though.

Various colours could be chosen. I've seen others over here. Even 2-tone seats with red & black. Have a look on autotrader UK if interested as I expect there will be some such.

We, unfortunately just did not get some of those special combinations here. This is about as special as we got. I think the version in the R was a bit different that this though?

I have a full set of the metal trim pieces for my R which I have as yet to install.

I'm not that big a fan of the black stained birdseye maple. I love birdseye maple just not finished black. The aluminum look should be an interesting change. The only draw back is they didn't do the pieces around the window switches in it, they used plain old black plastic instead. I wonder what the issue was?

I agree, it's a nice car for the right person. I don't consider that low miles!

If the roads and weather here weren't so awful this might make a great car for my wife but then there's also the issue of already having a STR. Once you drive that this would seem like a pedal cart powerwise. I would definitely appreciate the better gas mileage though!

That car does not look two tone to me??

Sometimes they are called "Portfolio" cars too?

Here is the black and white combo.

The tan and Black Combo.

And finally the red and black. which I found to be very rare.

That interior is factory.

Only the R seats had the two toned inserts (and I've only seen ONE str with them).

The "sport" interior like this one, had the entire top of the seat done in grey.

Take care

George.

Of course it's two toned, just in a different pattern. I prefer the "R" scheme though.

Yup.. Mr. George is correct. Two toned sport interior was available in a base car. And yes that one has it. Two toned sport interior for the R is the insert style like the ones pictured below. I need to look back in my 05 data at home to confirm colors for North America but I think we only had charcoal/grey or charcoal/tan and red inserts were for other markets. BTW, the two tone seats in the base car were only available with the aluminum trim as part of the sport interior. Now in the R you could get them with the standard trim since it was only a color choice being that sport seats were standard in the R. If you visit this link for the UK S Type brochure you will see that they had a lot more choices than us when it came to interiors... heck, they could even get cloth.

I had heard about the cloth option but had never seen it before. Must be pretty rare too?

It was never available here in North America.

If you want to see some different stuff, go to a UK used car site and just search for S-Type's. You will find some pretty interesting stuff. Not just cloth seats. Special editions and the like.
