3.0 type S engine guestion
so I got my hands on a 2001 3.0 S type 70k mile one owner car, cheap.
But its got a wrap that just started the PO shut it down right away (PO = family member) and bought another car.
So I know have this nice jag with a top end wrap, does not sound deep enough to be rod of piston. The noise appears to be coming from the top of the engine in the center. I only heard it for a minute and shut it down.
The motor does not run bad enough to be a rocker or push rod, but it possible.
Before I start ripping this apart is there anything these are known for that could cause this noise? maybe a broke adjust on the timing belt? something like that.
Feel free to guess I'm not picking it up until the weekend or I would put up a video so you could hear.
Does this noise sound fulmar to any body?
Thanks

You have a long road of education ahead!!
First get the JTIS. Free on this site. It's the shop manual. Then get the JEPC this is the parts catalog the dealers use and has many exploded diagrams that really help when the JTIS is too general. This is also free on this site.
Finally how much do you know about cars? The S Type V-6 has a chain. No belt. It's an OHC engine so no push rods and really no lifters as the cam moves the valve directly and uses shims to obtain proper valve clearance.
