3 cyl. of 6 not work over 3000rpm
Hi All,
please if any one have idea what is wrong with my car.
it is Jag S-type 3.0 12.1999.
problem is that when I start car everything work fine and if I drive him normal from 2000-3000rpm every thing is normal,
but when I need some more and pres him over 3000 rpm, 3 cylinders stop working (cyl. 4,5,6 (bank2)).
Mechanic I drove car think that chain is jump for one or two teeth.
If any body have some idea before I allow mechanic to open engine please help.
Thanks,
Sasa

I'm dubious of your Mech. If the timing chain has jumped the shark (not a common occurrence on this engine - he's probably read some stories about the 4.0L of the same era) it wouldn't "run fine" below 3000 rpm. As Gus said, get the codes. It is probably just in restricted performance mode.
