the s-type and xj dont have to modify anything its plug and play for you guys

This may be a silly question but can this be retrofitted on a, say, '04 XJR that does NOT have the Nav unit or do you have to have the Nav unit to start on this endeavor?

 

My buddy was just asking me that as I have the same setup.
