93 RON (Is it Bad?)
Hi Everybody,
The other day my car's fuel tank was low and I was not sure the minimum RON suggester by Owner manual, the highest gas I could found was 93 Octane so I filled that into my car.
Owner manual says:
Apparently I didn't see any problem. I have driven around 30-40 miles since I filled that in.
My question is:
Is it really bad for engine? If yes hot to take it off from the car?
Thanks for suggestions.
Best Regards,
Rizwan

As I recall, USA does not use RON (we do, in Europe). You use a different rating, roughly 4 lower than ours so 95 RON is about 91 with you. However, you sound to be reading a European instead of American handbook which matters because the correct one will tell you what to put in your car. I know it sounds like I've just said 91 will do (and it may) BUT your car is "calibrated" for your market and that means it's changed for the fuel, among other things. The FAQs (forum stickies) say where to download a free handbook - choose the right one

Thanks for answering. If I can recall correctly the button on gas pump said 93 RON. Actually I bought this car around 3 weeks back and this was second fill. Last time I used Premium which is 97-98 RON here.
About the handbook, you are probably right I downloaded it through some random google search. I'll download the right one.
Once again, thanks a lot.

Jagv8 is correct. Sounds like you have a UK/European handbook. All gasoline sold in N. Am is rated using the formula of (RON+MON)/2.
Using gasoline with lower than preferred octane (Jag does not say minimum) simply means that the engine computer may reduce the ignition advance slightly under certain conditions. You may never notice the difference. In any case, no harm will come to the engine. Many owners deliberately use lower octane gas for interstate cruising as it save several dollars per tank.

The filler neck of the fuel tank is a small
diameter (except in Japan) to suit the
unleaded fuel pump nozzle and will
prevent the larger diameter leaded fuel
nozzle from entering the filler neck.diameter (except in Japan) to suit the
