There will be others. Much easier cars to buy than sell.

So update, have viewed several cars all with problems! The most recent was today and I must tell you about it. So spent 9 hours going to SC to view a what the salesman at a main dealer (not Jag) was a super clean top notch car. Well turns out the cars body, paint, engine and trans where great. The previous owner mods not so much here is a list of the problems.
All wheels trashed, one Rear Rotor trashed, interior smelt like a 100 a day smoker had died and all the leather trashed. Engine bay all covers spray painted green inc the Battery. A custom painting of a union jack on a piece of metal screwed to the air filter housing with some mistake holes drilled as well. A one off Lowes supplied lower grill fitted like really home made. Aluminum pedal covers drill screwed not straight and loose. Real shame as the mechanics that matter where great, looks like 2 owners really looked after the car but the last idiot trashed it. Dealer wanted $14000 I offered $9000 to rescue the car. Dealer declined saying the car was fine and rare and I would be back. I might but with $8000 for the trouble of another trip to SC and lots of air freshners

Bummer. It would be less expensive to ask the dealer to drop it off at a jag dealer for an inspection you will pay for. Most of the time the used car dealer won't send there junk to get looked at.

Robert heres the next best color combo than the racing green!

Jaguar : S-Type S-TYPE R in Jaguar | eBay Motors

Looks to be in really good shape, except for the non matching wheel ducst caps ().

Its located in Tampa, and fellow STR member here Caclous(?) lives in that area. If you are interested maybe you can PM him to have a looksie for you.

Hi Rick thanks for the link. I have a rule that I never drive Red cars just a thing I have. So won't peruse thanks. I am going to wait for a car to come up locally, could be waiting a long time. Still feel really sorry about the SC car as that could still be rescued and brought back to mint, such a shame!

Anybody know if phd12volt (Jason) ever sold his 03 STR? I know he had put it up for sale a year or so ago, and at the time it had like 60k miles or thereabouts and I think he was asking about $12k. I know he kept that thing cherry and knows what he's doing....Might be worth a search back through some threads and send him a PM to see if he still has it. He's up here in Pittsburgh last I knew.

Jason sold his back in February, did you see this one? https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/p...-type-r-76557/ it may be to far for you but he says he will travel.

Hmm but now that I look closer it has CA plates and is listed in Indiana.

Seems I am hitting a problem, main dealers don't carry STR's anymore. Good ones are being kept by knowledgable careful owners. Wrecked ones are being sold by people trying to profit off of the fact that they are rare, and the US is such a big place. Thought my budget was on the low side but ok. My search was started because I wanted Vance's car but missed it by day's (money needed to be freed up by the bank) o well something will turn up just have to drive the XK till then ( that's hard times really)

I'll sell you my 03 STR 131k miles for $10000, I have receipts for $3900 in parts spent in the last 10 months (mostly OEM dealer items)

Keep a slush fund and on top of your maintenance you will be fine.

Just remember a lot of non service items, hoses, header tank, belts etc will be coming end of life items and will need replacing.

Just buy the one with the spec you like, find a good independant jag garage and befriend them, you will need there help...lol... and get them to go over all service items and known parts to wear out.

Above all else enjoy, mine has 144k on now, and nothing south of 450/500HP motor will trouble it... you can even give any two wheeled pocket rocket bikes circa 600/750 cc a scare...

Master your launches, the STR pulls hard from the standstill and as the strip boys will tell you, many a challenge is won and lost from the get go..

Its definetly Chris's old STR!

I know that Chris removed the "Riski Red" Mafioso intake tube.

The owner is trying to make a fast buck...

He's also telling a lot of porkies in his ad, you wouldn't expect that on CL, I wonder what tale he spun Chris?

If this is Chris's I am really p$&sed as I wanted it and lost it by 2 days. Now want to rescue it but will have to deal with some one I can't believe a word that say and wonder what has he done to the car in the 3 weeks he has had it!

So looks like we are right where the car came from, so pants on fire is all I can say"owned the car 2 years" really. So another good STR bites the dust that makes 4 in the last 2 weeks.
