Default Abs sensors

Hi abs sensor light come on from time to time does anyone know how to check them do I need to take the wheel off also what are the codes as I have a cheap scanner all it does is give me a code not telling me which wheel it is any information on this would be a great help regards Graham

There can be several causes. You need to know what DTCs are stored.

It can be caused by a faulty wheel sensor, or the circuit board in the ABS module, just to name two possible causes.

Also, make sure the battery has a minimum of 12.6 volts when checked across the terminals with a voltmeter.

Also can be a wheel bearing.

Hi, Graham. If you own an S-type it is wise to invest in a diagnostic code reader. Such a device will pinpoint exactly which sensor is causing the problem, An iCarsoft i930, for example, is quite affordable and will pay for itself very quickly in terms of not having to visit the specialist or dealer...

As indicated above, low battery voltage at start-up can also trigger spurious errors.
