AC Hi-Lo Pressure Switch

AC Hi-Lo Pressure Switch
Greetings, Fellow Froumites:
I have been advised that my AC high-lo pressure switch has failed and thus re-charging the system cannot be accomplished. The early part number for the switch is XR83792 (#2 below). Jaguar advises my indy that this part only applies to the X200 S-types and that the entire lines/manifold unit XR833219 (#1 below) needs to be replaced. It is my understanding that the switch attached via a schrader valve and should be replaceable without exchanging the entire assembly. Apparently the electrical connections are different on the later switch. Does anyone know what Ford/Lincoln/Mazda or other part will fit? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

I’m really surprised that switch is not available separately for 2003+ models. I recently removed the same switch on my 2002 V6, in futile hopes of a little extra clearance while replacing the radiator.
It indeed had a Schrader valve, but unfortunately it didn’t fully seal. You’ve got to figure it hadn’t moved in 20 years, so no surprise there.
I did notice a Ford logo and part number, but didn’t think to write it down. Perhaps you could carefully look over your existing switch? Not sure my number would help, if the early and late models are different.
Have you considered looking up a Lincoln LS or Ford Thunderbird? They share a lot of parts with the S-Type.
eBay may be your friend. Here’s one of several hits searching with the Jaguar part number you provided:

The transducers in Karl's post 3 above appear to be correct. If the harness plug has a round connector, check to see how many wires go to it. If memory serves, there should be two.
Since the threads on the schrader valve and the threads on the transducer are both aluminium, they often get corroded together, which then requires replacing the compressor manifold pipe assembly (number 1 in the picture in the first post).

Karl, as I recall Jeremy Clarkson states that Jaaag owners are slightly less than trustworthy, but in a most likeable way (or some such); he, however, did not say that they aren't gentlemen though. In terms of "revealing." one's dangly bits should be kept away from hot or moving parts in the engine compartment.
On of the helpful members, over on the GB Jag forum has done the switch swap on his 2004 S-type and successfully used OE Part #XR83792; this cross-references to Ford's #F93-19D594-AA. He confirms that the Schrader value remains installed in the AC line assembly.
When you attempted the switch swap, was there a seal, or 0-ring on the valve shaft that should also be replaced? The parts diagram above does not indicate one...
NBCat, thanks for your input on the corrosion issue; that makes sense. Do you recommend some sort of anti-sieze, or teflon tape on the threads when replacing the switch?
