Unhappy AC woes that dealer can't handle

Brought my 2005 s-type to dealer to fix AC - blowing warm. Told it was compressor - $1800.00 repair. I said go ahead. They have had it for a week. Said they put a new compressor in but it has "cycling problems" before the engine heats up. Said it's the pressure relief valve which is on the new compressor! That makes no sense to me. Assured me that the original compressor was shot. I asked if it is just coincidence that the new compressor has this valve problem. They are "looking at it again" this morning. I need the car back.

I'm thinking about asking to talk to the tech later today. Any thoughts about what I should ask him? Thanks!

They called back. Said the "evac temp sensor" was faulty.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Ask him if he knows what he is doing?

If you are still standing ask what pressures they are seeing on the gauges.

Could be, but it makes you wonder what would have happened if they had changed the sensor before the compressor? Maybe I'm a cynic?
Is this a V6 or V8?

4.2 V8. That was my concern, that it was only the sensor or the pressure relief valve or both to begin with. He still says that the compressor was not functioning and needed replacing. If I called now and asked for the readings but they had been dishonest from the start, there is no way they would give me the truthful information. Oh well......

Ask for your original compressor back - it must be possible to test it off the car and, if nothing else, you'll have a spare clutch pack.

Sounds suspiciously like it only ever was the sensor but could be tough to prove.
