My Next Move Would Be Trying To Swap Out The Headlight Switch Pack To One That Actually Has The Fog Light Option/Button.. Just A Thought. Good Luck!

Edit: After Re-Reading Your Last Post I Believe You've Already Tried This?..

Post Front fog lights on 2008 S Type 2.7D

hello folks,

since alle my (3) girls where out of the house and the weather not too bad neither - I could fit my fog lamps onto the car finally.

And yes - I have checked with my friendly dealer - the 2008 model really never came with fog lights (even that the wiring was behind the blinds as discovered earlier). Which meant in conclusion - there would be no factory holders available - neither new nor used ones! So I decided to convert the blinds into holders for the lamps...

To make a long story short (~ 10 hrs):
  • I made a stencil how to make the cut-outs on the blinds.
  • Then I fitted the fog lights.
  • Next I filled the space around it with some polystyrene.
  • Covered the polystyrene with fibre-glass and epoxy
  • Painted the whole thing with modelling paint (spray) and filled a few holes with silicone - to prevent spray water getting inside.

The worst had been the cut-outs since the blinds are made from quite sturdy plastic and to get the polystyrene into proper shapes.

Smile 2008 S Type with front fog lights

And now finally that's the result. In my opinion it looks pretty well. The critical ones may consider that I've never worked with fibre-glass/epoxy before.

Since the fog lamps have the same shape of the original ones (on the Mk II series) - I don't think the LEDs look worse than the original lamps had been.

"Quod erat demonstrandum"

A small note on the replacement lamps sold from Adamesh:
pros:
- they fit into the original place from the latter models
- they are "plug'n play" if your car had fog lights before
- for GBP 35,-- they are fairly cheap

cons :
- I had some "bad contact" issues when fitting them. Seems to work only in a certain position of the wires.
- I am still in doubt how the result will be when driving in bad weather conditions. But being said the original ones being useless - can't be worse neither

And here how it looks finally:
PS: no, I did not take the time to wash the car...

Can't be sure but from my less than good memory you won't get power to the fogs unless the sidelights at least are active/on. Hope this helps and good luck!
