Advice
I'm looking at buying a 2006 S Type with 38K miles on it? Are there any06 S Type owners on this forum and if so, how do you like your cars? Has anyone had any major mechanical problems with the newer model S Types? I've been reading about all the drivetrain and transmission problems with the older 2000-2004 models, but I haven't been able to find much on the 06 models. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

RE: Advice
THEYRE great cars and few problems, get a carfax and make sure that tires arent worn unevenly, alignment done, brakes in good condition etc. we do alot more on our preowned cars than most cause last thing we want is a customer being told they need brakes, tires alignment etc on their first oil change after buying the car from us

RE: Advice
Thanks for the info BRUTAL. I ran a carfax on the car and it's only had two other owners. One was a corporate lease vehicle and the last owner bought the car with 13,000 miles on it. The dealer is listing the car for $23K but I've found other 06 S Types on line with less miles for less money. How difficult is it to get routine maintenance done on it? I'm pretty mechanically inclined and do all my own oil changes and minor maintenance on my other vehicle? The closest Jag dealer is 2 1/2 hours away from me. Thanks again.

RE: Advice
ITs not hard but dealing with the engine diaper to change oil in your driveway is fun as is the mess the v6 oil filters make all over the power steering lines when removed if its a v6. if your getting it from that dealer make sure tires are good as i stated above, we have our standards, but we have had peowned managers here before that would fix, or do anything maintenance wise. Also the spec for the alignments for 03 and up stype was changed years ago and alot of shops never got that info(independants) and aligning stype to those specs will wear out the inside of the front tires since the toe spec is wrong(not enough toe in). I always prefere to align like mercedes wants by installing a pressor bar, actually I just push out on front tires from underneath to simulate what the tires and suspension does driving down the road. The same problem with newer 04 and up xj8 also, but Jaguar never admitted nor changed those. Like on CSI I look at what the tires say not the alignment machine. If you have inside tire wear and the spec for alignment says it fine, the tire wear says otherwise...sorry to go on so much. Just remember all dealers are different and since theyre so far get and make sure everything is already done so you dont have to worry about it
