Default Advice on codes - P1587, P1584, and P0153

My name is Jerron and recently my wife and I purchased a pre-owned 2002 Jaguar S-type 3.0L V6.

This is our first Jaguar to own. It's was well taken care of by the previous owner who lived in our community. We did not purchase it from him, but from a local dealer who purchased it after the owner passed away. The first week or so the car ran great, until the Fail Safe light started coming on. It comes and goes but doesn't effect the driving to much. The rpm idle up and down when first started and I can tell a difference in power. I tried cleaning the connections and cleaning the throttle body, but nothing has helped. It is showing codes P1587, P1584, and P0153. I am thinking about ordering a new throttle body, if anyone has any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate the advice.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum Jerron,

I've copied this question from your Intro for advice from members with the same model.

Deal with P0153, which the net or free downloads here of codes PDF / JTIS all show as HO2S-related fault. Leave TB alone

I had the codes ran again recently and actually the code P0153 is not showing up anymore.
The only code showing up is the P1584.

Code P1584 is not in the Jaguar DTC listing for the 2003MY S-Type:

(click on the image to enlarge it)

The listing is chronological and goes from P1582 straight to P1603. I would have doubts about the code reader.

He shows 2002 and it's in that

There are previous threads about it, too.

Have you got your 2002 S-Type DTC list available to post as a PDF?

My Jaguar S-Type listings for 2000 through to 2004 taken directly from JTIS don't include it.

Default Throttle Body

We drove the car last Saturday to Birmingham, which is around 95 miles one way. The car ran great, the only time the Fail Safe came on was coming home and it stayed on for about 4 to 5 miles and went off. The next morning it come on as soon as I started it and stayed on till I got to work. I only live about 4 miles from where I work. Its strange how somedays it runs fine and others it stays on. I am going to run some test on it this weekend to see if I can find something in the wiring. I have not had time to really dig into to it, but I plan on spending the weekend working on it. I purchased a Service Repair Manual and now have schematics to go by as well as some test points.

For some reason it doesn't show schematic for the fuses, only the Relays. If someone has a fuse schematic for all three fuse box I would be very grateful! The ones I find online are different from mine.
