Advice on upgrades needed!!
Hey guys, well after bothering you for the last monthI still can't make up my mind on what I wanna do to my jag. I have about $350.00 bucks right now on my Paypal sitting and waiting to be spent on something for my jag.
Here is a list of all the mods I am going to be doing to my jag overtime, some of which I am not sure on. The major one I have been thinking is dropping it on H&R springs. I think the pro's of that would be the awesome lowered look, but the cons I think are a lot stiffer ride (which I am not sure i want), and since I have 18's the car might be way too low from the ground for daily driving. My S-type is my daily driver, and the stiffness and being to low from the ground might be my pullbacks on the springs. What do you guys think?
overall here is my list of mods I am going to be doing to my jag, what do you think I should do with the $350.00I have right now?
1. drop it (hovent made up my mind yet, opinions and help needed)
2. EBC drilled and slotted front and rear rotors
3. EBC red performance brake pads
4. HID's
5. borla exhaust (other thread I made about it, I am going to be making a custom one, since I don't wanna spend a grand on exhaust. i think I can buy the mufflers and tips, and get it installed for around $400.00 all together)
6. R badges under the turn signals
7. S-type R spoiler
8. Chrome lower grille
So yeah... umm like I said before all your help is greatly appreciated, and I realy need help to make this Eurotuner[8D]. I wanna make it nice and classy, and need help. I definetely do not want a ricer.
So yeah $350.00 I have.. and I need spending help!
Thanks,
Paul

RE: Advice on upgrades needed!!
If you have the s-type R, then the badges under the turn signals will look nice, but if you don't then it would be like the acura guys putting the typeR on their integras when they have the stock 1.8L engine!
HID's are sexy but a bit pricey and hard to install on the Jag "If you want REAL HID's"
No better upgrade than brakes. Better pads and rotors are a great idea.
Chrome Grille=SEX SEX SEX!!!

Take the 350 and buy yourself a new suit and shoes. You'll get more miles out of them.

Anyway.. I decided on giving those borla mufflers a test.. i mean in the worst case I can take em off and re-sell them.. so I ordered 2 borla mufflers and 2 4" round borla tips with Borla engraving.. they should get here at the end of this week.. so I'll be putting the exhaust together and should have it on by the end of this month..
next I am thinking about upgrading to EBC slotted and cross drilled rotors front and rear.. and Red Stuff pads front and rear.
After that I'll be dropping it with H&R spruings when it gets warm outside.
After that all the other stuff.. HID, maybe bigger rims, lower chrome grille etc etc etc.
LMK what you think!!
thanks,
Paul

RE: Advice on upgrades needed!!
I've just tried to install H.I.D dip beam lights on my 2004 s-type. When I first turned them on they flickered continuously. It appears that the existing circuit can not supply quite enough current to allow the lights to function correctly. I was suprised as they should only draw 35Watts when warm. I'm going to wire in relays and take a power from elsewhere - probably the starter motor relay. The lights are fine when powered form a more beefy source. Hopefully the relays won't cause any other problems.
Whether this is just a problem with my car or not I don't know but I thought I'd share the experience.

RE: Advice on upgrades needed!!
HID lights now installed, very pleased with results, the lights are much much brighter than the standard ones. The standard lighting circuit has a positive feed that is live when the ignition is on, and the lights are switched off and on through the negative side. I used a relay behind each headlight operated by the headlight switch to switch the lights off and on using the existing positive, the switched negative (to operate the relay) and a new earth. This overcame my previous problem of the HID lights flickering. The HID kit was around £140, well worth the money and much cheaper than the factory fit option. I spent around 4hours fitting them (would be much quicker second time round) Hope this info is of use to someone. I’ve also fitted a Kenwood double din Satnav DVD bluetooth stero with mp3 input and upgraded speakers in doors, and woofer in boot. Will supply more info if anyone is interested. Cheers Gav
