After Airfilter Change, Something Deftly Wrong!!! (FIXED)

Uhh...OK, we wrote enough on scanners. Now can we get back on topic of figuring out what's up with Doc's Cuzzie Machine?

I'm promising you all, the Codes This Friday. Were I not running around the state the next couple of days, I'd just go to Autozone and get the codes out. I promise that will happen on Friday by Noon time so everyone in together can provide their expertise and additional steps to resolve the issue at hand. Actually, I don't think they have an Autozone here, it might be Advance Auto, but I'll get the codes for sure! That is my word....

As Friday approaches, I figured I'd do some additional research and see what else gives. I found this 3 part article that addresses some scan tools and makes a suggestion for one. I'm presently looking into that one tool and trying to obtain more information about it as it pertains to "OUR" cars. The other info gathered will just be supplimental, but... This is a Jaguar Forum afterall....

I used the Alex Peper/Pepper (Vehicle Explorer) tool with a Ford I used to have. Good for what it did (bizarre Windows app, though). Didn't support any module but the PCM (though it claimed to). I wouldn't recommend it for our cars.

Sorry for the delay gentlemen, I had to be in NYC this weekend for a family emergency and I rushed through things a bit. Items in Order
1. I ordered as promised the two code scanners one recommended by Rock (Joyce's Jag) and the other that JagV8 recommended from AE (Auto Enginuity)
2. In a rush to arrive at this emergency, I didn't have time to drive down into DC or to tow the car into DC for the free code read out diagnostic, so I took it to Bethesda Jaguar which is a mere few miles from my home and work. I've dealt with them and the Jaguar dealership in Tysons Corner VA who are very customer centric. I'm providing photo's of both pages of the sheet which include the diagnostic code(s) and the repairs performed along with the price I paid to get my beautiful sexy Cat purring again. I figured driving it to NYC this weekend would be a great chance to test the repairs under Mass Duress and stress with a (Extremely Happy, Heavy Pedal Mashing, Premium Gas Guzzling Grin).
Two codes showed up
P0101 mass airflow sensor problem or failure
P2135 Throttle Body Failure
For those familiar with the thread originally Started by Bull27 on 04/29/2011, I chimed in because I was having some similar problems. Here's a link as a reminder and the codes my car generated then are also posted in my commentaries. JOsworth also had the last comment to my issue, and I tend to be in agreement with him as there may still be something lurking beneath the surface the Jaguar just hasn't identified yet. I drive the car really hard, (I'm sure all you speed enthusiasts know exactly what I mean), so if someone is going to find the problem, I think it will most likely be me.

They replaced a faulty throttle body free of cost or labor charges, and I received a new MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor). For those even changing the air filter, I have a recommendation, Please disconnect the air filter box cover from the airflow hose where the MAF is BEFORE, opening the box. You will likely avoid damaging your MAF like I did.

Awesome Docuccie! It must be nice to have a warranty? I'm looking into warranties. She run nice?

I am so pleased you got it fixed. If I may be so bold to ask, do you think you might have bumped the plug when you were installing the filter? It seems so coincidental that your TB was the fix.

The facts are the facts. Definitely!!! I should have disconnected the airfilter cover from the distribution tube which houses the MAF. But, as destiny would have it, I got lucky because the Throttle body which was replaced in April was faulty so it took a dump at the same time. I got a new throttle body for free and no additional labor charges. I guess things worked out as they should.

Definitely hit 157 three or 4 times in the trip. If anyone wants a detailed copy of those dealer invoices, send me your email address and I'll send you copies that are better legible so you can see all of the instructions/comments.

Congrats David...glad you got it sorted....don't know about the high-end STR's...but I stable a coupla 3.0's for the women that sometimes live in my house, and I advise all who'll listen (and several who won't) to pull the whole box out before trying to open it. One screw - and I did a little test - without the locking tab trim job detailed somewhere here...on the 3.0L..the top won't physically open far enough to disengage the tabs fully before the hose-horn hits engine structure, even with hose removed. Yeah...it can be "tweaked" open...but next thing you know....one is posting "anybody know where I can get an airbox for a .....L?"

It is what it is! On the road again!

Sorry to be getting back to you so late but I just arrived back in MD this morning. Yes, she's running sweet. I really kicked her in the A(double snakes) leaving rubber trails all over the place for the entire 6 days.

LOL! 10-4 on the rubber shows Docuccie. I ordered a MAF sensor for I feared it went south and is the cause of the recent P0171 code (bank one lean), "Restricted Performance" message, and surging. I'm done here too.
