Aftermarket headunit in 2005 4.2?
Newbie here...
I'm looking at a couple of 4.2 S-Types that are both certified pre-owned. One has 10k miles and standard options, the other (which I'm inclined towards) has 45k and the sport package. I just prefer the leather steering wheel and the better bolstered seats. The price is right too.
My main concern, however, is that I want to put a Kenwood/Garmin double-din nav unit into whichever car I buy. I've done this on my Audi A6 and vastly prefer it to the proprietary options. I know that this is pretty easily accomplished with the '04 S-Types and earlier, but I can't find much information about '05s and up. I'm especially concerned because both of the cars I'm looking at have the Alpine option.
Is this possible? Anyone done it? If it isn't possible is there an aux input adapter that is readily available?
Thanks,
Ralph

It's going to be different since you have the Alpine option, but I don't know that its going to be affected any by being an 05 since I think anything after 02 is diffrent. Try the Nexxia website- that should have everything you'll need there- but be ready to wait a week or two since its shipping from the UK.
