Hmmm......I really couldn't be that much help then I guess second...sorry.
I'm still not sure what Jag you have either?
Whatever Jag you have, post a new topic in that forum and we'll see what happens from there.
i wouldn't be surprised if Biggie, Aquill or some of the other stateside members will come up with some alternatives for you too try.
Also try browsing the archives.......I seem to remember that this may have cropped up before

HeySecondtone,
I just bought my first Jag July 4th weekend. I would not buy the car until I bought a warranty on it, since I bought my car from a wholesale broker I had to find a warranty on my own. I tried to get a warranty through my bank and they wanted over 3 grand for 1 year (I told them to take a hike and I went to the inet for a warranty search). I bought a 24 month/unlimited milage with $0.00 deductible for $1299(covers practically everything except wear and tear). They allow you to take the car to the Jaguar dealerships (my Jag dealer is around $90 per labor hour and that matches their guidelines) They also provide towing and other great benefits. Here is their link http://www.autorepairwarranty.com/
phone (888) 645-5040.

I'm a car nut and have worked at autotrader.com for over three yearsif that help...Any "warranty" is a gamble...
1.You need to hope that they will pay out your claims...As soon as your warranty company contacts your mechanic the soul job of the warranty rep is to find a way to deny your claim..."Does the customer have reciepts for oil changes every 3K miles? Did a part not covered by warranty(eg seals) cause the engine to sieze? Did the customer put on any aftermarket parts?"
2. Tons of these no name companies go out of business all the time...Usually you get a prorated check back for your unused warranty.
3. Read the fine print. Watchthe caps, I seen a couple companies only cover up to $1500 for an engine. I've seen a few that will only pay up to $50/hr labor which means you'll be paying a nice out of pocket chunk. Imagine the bill from a jag dealer if all that's paid is $1500 in parts+ $50/hr labor? You owe $5K...
Best betis togo to your Jaguar dealer and ask about their extended service plan. Will probably cost the same as warrantydirect but shouldn't cost you a penny if you need a repair. Usually a lot of critria in order to get one, mainly sub-50K miles...
After a jag dealer, best bet is to go to which ever mechanic you plan on going to if not a jag dealer and tell them your story. You recently want the car and are potentially interested in having their shop performing unexpected repairs. Ask them who they accept.
Warrantydirect is one of the better providers out there, but ensure you read the fine print and ensure your mechanic accepts them.
Good luck.

Secondtonone, that is a very good question, as I'm in the same boat. Unfortunately our cars are very expensive should anything happen to themif don"t have any warranty to covers us. I asked my Jaguar dealer servie guy,he was rather vague and said it would be around 3K. I didn't ask anything after that, so I don't knowhow many months and or years that would cover? I think I could get a better deal or at least I hope so? I don't have 3K right now anyway. Please updates us with your findings.

Well mine would have been 3k and some change. I bought it with 60k on it.I just took a gamble, had a certified mechanic inspect it, and took it to Jaguar of Wilmington, NC. If need be, I will fix the problem and sell it. In the next two years or so I should be joining up w/ a BMW forum.

When I bought my 2003 S-Type, it had 44,088 miles on it - and 42 months from date of original sale. I had time to shop around and like you, found WarrantyDirect, which looked fairly good - however, I ended up buying a policy from 5 Star Warranty http://www.5starwarranty.com/ for $2,114. It is a 4 year, 100,000 mile Warranty (whichever comes first) and is backed by Old Republic Insurance Company. It has no deductible (Zero). Also, it is has exclusionary clause - specifically listing the items which are NOT covered. No inspection was required since I was under the 50,000 miles and 4 years Factory Warranty.
The four years on the 5 Star Warranty started when I bought the policy (going through 2010) and the 100,000 miles are when the odometer reaches 100,000 miles. I have had one claim on it so far. I now have 55,000 miles and they paid for the repairs without any problem You need to be sure and thoroghly check out ANY company you are considering, as they seem to go out of business regularly and leave the customer without the insurance they thought they purchased.

If you decide to bargain hunt, in short have a check list.
1. How much per hour labor is covered?
2. What are the caps for engines and trannys?
