Air con

Air con
Hi all,
Some of you may remember I was on here a while ago about my air con being faulty. Well after following some advice I continue to have issues. The DCCV was the first thing to be replaced and then recently I have changed the air con control panel (didn't realise how easy it was to get at) but I continue to have hot air blowing round the car. It was serviced and re-gassed prior to the control panel being changed so all that should be in working order. I am looking for idea's from fellow members as to what could still be wrong and ideas to fix it.
I will say at this point that the mechanic who replaced the DCCV for me found a lone wire coming down from the dashboard area somewhere (he didn't want to take the dash apart unnecessarily, but the DCCV would fully work unless he connected this wire. I seem to remember him saying it went into the central point of the plug on the DCCV???
Looking for help here guys as I am trying to get this sorted whilst avoiding major costs.
If you were at the Glasgow meet I am the guy that has the prosthetic leg and stick (and was asked by a member of the meet why I needed the stick)
Thanks all
Wullie

Wullie, did you read the troubleshooting guide in the stickies, you may need more than one cup of tea to keep you going.

Hi both and thanks for the replies. Yes Norri I sped read that one :-)
I have a different question regarding this now. I am browsing the net as I do and I have been looking up the part number for my air con control panel which is 4R8318C612FF and alas I cannot find it. However, a certain ebay seller is selling reconditioned ones and they have similar part numbers except for the last 2 letters. Does this actually make a difference or should I try to get the part as close to mine as possible?
Thanks all
Wullie

I believe the last 2 letters change as updates are made to the part.
There's one in Scouseland https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Jaguar-S-Ty...2FF/1880204462

It might be worth your while to read that guide a little more carefully, specifically post #2 for the test of the DCCV. If power is lost to the DCCV, whether a blown fuse or the disconnected wire like you may have, the two so!enoids inside the valve are spring-loaded open for maximum heat. Even if the rest of the AC system is in perfect working order, all that heat will overwhelm any cooling and make you think the AC has failed.
