Default Airbox lid cracked!

Ok guys my wifes airbox lid has cracked/broken off at the tabs that hold it down.....
Where is the best place to find a replacement????
Is it even work a trip to the wrecking yard or should I just get a new one???
Is there an aftermarket airbox/intake available???

Can't help with the best place for a replacement, but in future it's worth taking the whole box out to get the lid off, it only takes a couple of minutes and is much safer.

Thanks!
I would really like to take the credit for the broken tabs but it seems that they have been broken for a while (before we bought the car) lol
It looks like Mina has a aftermarket intake any thoughts on this???

A few of us are running the Mina Performance intake on our STRs. I know they make a kit for the V6 as well. Its not too painfull but you may be able to save a few buck by calling Chris at Mina directly...

Here's the link if you are interested:

Yea cb I was just looking at this looks like a huge savings over the factory airbox as well. Any issues with the intake on your STR as far as fit and function?

Looks like he is in the Valley which is really cool i work in the valley!

Ditto to cbharley on the Mina Intake. As Chris suggests, mention him and Seth (me) for a jaguarforum.com discount. Otherwise, for a salvaged airbox, call Coventry West (GA.), Jaguar Heaven (CA.), or Euro Chop Shop (CA.). Go for the Mina Intake if you want economy ($$), improved throttle response and 10 rwhp.

First off Chris over at Mina ROCKS! He knows his stuff and is extremely helpful!

I have had the intake on my STR since November and I drive about 1500 miles per month and ave had ZERO issues. The install is super easy and you can do it in about 30 minutes with a screwdriver and a simple socket set. The kit comes with a heat shield that seals the area off from the engine compartment and a new polished aluminum MAF box.

Looks super sharp, sounds awesome and is very affordable and a snap to install!

Good luck, sounds like you wouldn't even need to have it shipped, swing over to Mina Gallery tomorrow and like Seth said, tell them that Chris & Seth from the Forum sent you!

Cheers!

If it helps, devo357, my STR air box cracked at the exact same spot. Jaguar quoted $384, Jaguar Heaven found one for $150, which I bought. I now realize that the Mina intake was the least expensive option of all. Sh*t!

devo357, just picked up my 03 STR with resprayed front and rear bumper covers and wheels (wiill have pics soon), yellow HID bulbs for high beams, HID fog lamps, HID parking lamps, and Mina intake. What a difference in throttle response. Air is definitely entering the motor with less inhibition. The body man said it was 1,2,3 to install. Without the stock airbox there's plenty of airspace for the cone air filter to suck fresh air. Will up my chp estimate to 460+ chp @ nearly 500 lb/ft trq. Big thanks to Chris (cbharley) for leading us to improving induction at an economical cost.

You have a very common 6 cylinder car. Just get one on EBay. Many 6 cylinders getting junked.

With us STR guys no such luck! Very rare to find any used STR parts. Aftermarket is much easier than trying to find a used one.

Seth that's awesome! Can't wait to see the pics! How did the get the HID fogs done??? I am still scratching my head on that one...

I told you you woul like that Mina intake, it makes a HUGE difference and loads of throttle response and blower whine! I love it the install is quick, clean and with that heat shield I don't see issues with pulling in hot air, as you said plenty of room for fresh air to flow into that cone filter...

Not sure where the negative press comes from on that unless the early kits didn't have the heat shield?

Anyway pics man pics and descriptions!

Next up replacing the stock body colored trunk plinth with a shiny chrome one! ;-)

Sounds like you too need to call our good friend Chris over at Mina and get you a good intake kit and a if you call now as an added bonus you will recieve not 2, not 8, not even 10, but an additional 12 RWHP at no additional cost. Just $135.99 plus shipping and handling!

Call now!

LOL!!!

LOL, well i have steel tube already but man it was a pain to open that airbox, i have an xjr, same setup and that was a piece of cake, because one of the notches already broke off lol. But that mina intake i thought wasn't good because of heat. some people like it some people don't . They got cool center caps though put red ones on my str they look sweet

+1 on the red center caps!

I too have the red center caps and they really pop against the silver paint!

My wheels are painted to match the color of the car, I just dont like Chrome wheels, I dont know why...

jsupstarz, yesterday a 2004 Slate Grey XJ pulled up to the pumps. That is one nice mature exotic looking color...I like it. I had a 1983 medium grey Ford Mustang GT. In place of the stock 175 hp 5.0, I placed a warmed 351 ("World Product" heads (2.02" intake and 1.8" exhaust valves and 200 cc runners 425 chp), 750 cfm Holley carb, Crane street cam, Heddman long tube headers, 3:55 gears= What a blast! A low 12 second or high 11 sec. 2885 lb. rocket. The motor felt like it was only hauling a go-kart.
