Default Alignment

Got a silly question...is there a rear wheel caster/camber alignment setting? If yes, where are the adjustment eccentric? Two weeks ago the cat recieved an alignment. The tech said the driverside caster or camber (?) were slightly out of range and he wasn't able to find adjustment eccentric. Going back for another alignment due to steering wheel not centered properly. Sure would like to know before then.

Yes - just rear camber I think. Never looked to see where to adjust, though! (JTIS?)

The specs say, in degrees:
L -0.54 +- 0.75
R same
R-L 0.0 +- 0.75

R-L means difference between R & L
+- means with tolerance of

But check the famous (pothole) thread to see what Brutal says.

Are you friggen kidding me!!!! The alignment machine shows how to adjust all settings and even has pics....he should know anyway that most are gonna be on the lower control arms at the frame attachment point. Even my nissan truck is that way..personally that would throw up a red flagship not just a flag that he doesnt even know how to use the machine much less align your car. Did he use the correct specs. Your car is the one that has incorrect spec loaded for front toe. Of courese im speaking of the front caster and camber settings. There are no rear caster/ camber settings. But the correct toe does change the camber slightly. If youre out alot. Look for bad control arm bushings, wheel bearings, and or sagging springs. Look closely at the rear a arm bushings. Forget cracked boots, normal. Look for rust and or feel for loosness. If bad you have to buy a new a arm, ive never seen the bushings avail seperatly.

Posted from pm for added info to anyone that reads this*******
i answered in the thread, forget zero toe, i set closer to max green toe in spec. Your tires toe out as you drive, if youre in the middle(zeroed) theyre just gonna toe out and wear the insides of the tire more than they should

Thanks Brutal. The tech def. new where to find the front eccentrics. So an 03 STR with H&R Sport lowering springs should have some toe. I believe we were going for a total toe of .26 or whatever? Does the toe matter with a lowered STR?

Lowering the ride height generally causes more negative camber. Which is fine within reason and how hard you like to hit the twisties. The harder you hit corners the more neg camber you can dial in.but once you approach
2* -/+ youll induce accelerated wear. I would align just like stock, and 1" lowering you should still be able to hit factory specs. As with anyone that mods suspension i always recommend keeping the printout in the glove box and comapring your previous sheet to the before specs of the new alignment on the rack before adjustments are done. Then looking at the tires and asdjusting accordingly. Keep in mind that not all tires will tolerate the same specs either. Ive had issue with kumho exsta's wiping out the insides on an acura i had and other tires were fine using the same specs.

Sometimes I think that these days certain techs will rely on the machine to do all the work and make the decisions. There is a little bit of art to a real proper alignment IMHO, guys like Brutal think through the whole process, whereas many guys doing alignments don't.
