All of these common issues has me wondering..
I've not had my Jag long, but I'm beginning to wonder if I should be proactive about some of the common issues I'm reading about, most specifically the coolant leak. I've had my 4.2 for a little over a year now, but it sits in a garage for the winter, so I've not put a lot of mileage on it. The only issue I've had was a small transmission leak, which I took care of immediately and had the fluid changed.
Are there some issues that when they occur, they just GO? Should I be concerned that my coolant will start leaking during a trip, and effectively drain on a 2 hour drive quickly enough to brick my motor? I'm good about checking my fluids on a regular-enough basis.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Even if it's "You're crazy, stfu"

Youre crazy stfu
no actually I would consider replacing the entire thermostat housing since they do come apart internally and crack externally which will leave you stranded.
As far as the reservoir you have 2 choices. Yes replace it now. Or keep a pair of vise grips in car to clamp off the hose where it goes into the top off the reservoir if....er when it cracks or blows off. And a gallon of water to refill and leave cap loose to not build system pressure

Study the S-Type FAQ thread stickied at the top of the S-Type section of this forum. You'll learn about many of the "gotta watch it carefully" components such as the plastic coolant expansion tank, the DCCV, the two 8mm bolts connecting the shifter cable to the ZF transmission, etc. etc. etc.

Good advice. Thanks!

I've been looking through that. Thanks for the heads up.
