Since it's a different car I would try the XF forum first.
Just in case the dealer is not needed.

Is there a chance of getting more specifics. I research "mongoose" and there is a v138 that does 2005 and above. some were called "Mangoose". It is a little confusing. Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

There is a chance, but you will need to do some reading https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...an-tool-66558/

I have read over two years of threads and not one of them refer or indicate a general price for a dealer activation. Spending over 600 dollars just to get the "global close" via DIY is somewhat... "Insane". So the question still stands. Please humor me and be specific, if this is not appropriate I apologize. I get this treatment from call centers on cable service.

Have you tried picking up the phone and asking your dealer?

That will be the best way, as we have seen with key programming costs vary widely from dealer to dealer.
I can't remember how much I paid, if anything, but it certainly wasn't close to $600 or I'd still be spitting blood!

I thought people were friendly here. Not condescending. Disappointed. If they were as available as this forum, I would have never joined. I guess "you get what you pay for".

Y'know it was you who asked about dealer stuff. So that's why you got the answers you got. People had already done a lot to steer you away from dealers.

Hi JagV8. In asking a question I was told "dealer stuff". I asked about alternatives and specifics. However, I have been scorched (not flamed) twice. I thought this was a forum for people that have had the experience with and without dealer involvement. I just wanted to know. But.... I will refrain from asking any questions in the future. This is my first experience (and last) with posting. I will just read as suggested by "Norri". Too bad. I wanted this to be interactive, but obviously relying on experienced members of your forum to answer legitimate questions is like pulling a transmission. Sorry. I will attempt to "stay in line". Enjoy the site, not the experience.

Guess you didn't.

Why get upset at people here? How could we possibly know what your individual dealer might charge you. Jeeze.

Interactive as in I do all your reading and give you the answer that you want?

I've tried to steer you in the right direction sorry if that wasn't enough.

If you go into the systems menu you can disable global open. something I found out the hard way when I changed the battery in the key fob and inadvertently opened all the windows as the car was outside. Unfortunately it was raining and I didn't find out until the inside of the car was soaked. I'd also lost all my CDs as a light fingered passer by helped himself.
