I replaced my standard audio radio recently with a JVC double DIN head unit, and it works well. The USB and BT are great. But... after listening for a bit, decided to try some different speakers up front, and put in Infinity Reference replacements in the front doors which improved the high frequencies a lot.

However, in comparison I found the OEM speakers on the S-Type are quite decent and are better at delivering bass, so decided to leave the OEMs in the rear doors (plus having to pull 2 more door panels to replace speakers convinced me to keep them ). It's a nice combination.

That said... I still want to add a subwoofer. To do so I need to run wiring from the head unit area to the boot, as I don't think my Jag has anything pre-wired for it. I'm sure a car audio installer could do this for me, but when I initially took my Jag into Car Toys, once they took a look at the the car the costs start adding up fast.

Has anyone added subwoofer wiring to a standard audio S-Type and if so what's the best way to go about it?

If you've replaced the HU with JVC one, then you will be wiring a sub from that, not the S Type wiring?

 

Right, I would need to run low level audio out (RCA) from the back of my new HU plus an on/off amp control signal to the trunk, then add an amp and sub in trunk (or maybe an all in one unit). I don't think there is any pre-wiring in my S Type - so I was wondering the best way to run some wires to the trunk on my own.

 

Under the carpet, along the edge?
