I'd say the designers really stuffed up there - looks indeed like mirror image tanks for LHD and RHD...
Maybe it's a matter of trying again to find that one single seller on Alibaba, who is willing to send you a quantity of 2 only. Maybe this one?:
https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...11b240860nuNlO
And it looks like all those are possible P/N for you XR816503 XR849532 GJ0225 XR87830
PS: Or maybe it's time to get creative;
I just simply typed "coolant expansion tank" into ebay, and out came this:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/22413955...Bk9SR6COyba9YQ
Maybe it fits? You have your tank, take dimensions, and ask the seller of that tank for dimensions and check, if you would be able to stuff it into the S-Type...

Expansion Tank supplier
The expansion tank is on the right or driver's side of my car.
There is an Australian company called Jag Prestige located at Ringwood, Victoria, which advertises expansion tanks for sale. I have tried to contact them, but they do not reply to emails or telephone calls. Does anyone here know if they still exist or have they folded?

@ Magus:
If you check at the bottom of this page: https://www.jagbritishservice.com.au/
you find that Christmas/New Year Closure 22/12/22-15/01/23
...which suggests that they are still in business...

2) It was highly inappropriate for me to make fun of how all you Commonwealth members keep putting the steering wheel on the wrong side. I offer a true apology from the heart of my bottom.

Catmobile: RHD or LHD the important thing is to drive on the side of the road where you belong.
That's what I wrote!
And if you can't do that, then at least do it like me, when I first came to Australia (from German) for my final year project at uni:
I bought an old crappy motorbike, was about to make a left turn on an intersection and accidentally drove into the second lane (wrong lane) on the left, which did not matter too much, as there is always space for a motorbike...

Finding a replacement tank
Hi Everyone,
I have emailed Guangzhou Germax Automotive Parts through Alibaba, and while they list XR849532 expansion tanks amongst their products which can be purchased as little as just 2 items, their response is to say that the tanks are not available.
On the other hand I have found some generic aluminium coolant tanks which are approximately cubic in shape and could fit inside the space of the original tank. However the problem is that they only have one inlet/outlet that is situated near their bottom, whereas the Jaguar has that smaller second upper outlet which attaches to what is described as a “bleeder hose” that goes to the throttle area. Therefore if I used one of these generic tanks I would need to seal off that bleeder hose. So my question then becomes is this “bleeder hose” essential for the engine, or will it not matter if it no longer functions?

After the cooling system has been disturbed, air needs to be expelled. The system is basically self-bleeding, but it takes several drive/cooldown cycles to get all the air out. Until then, expect gurgling from the heater core. You may also experience erratic cooling operation, with the engine possibly getting a little warmer than usual. In my over-inflated opinion, the official bleeding procedure was created to speed up the process. After all, a dealership could not return a car to the owner like that.
However, the official bleeding procedure is quite complicated and something of a pain. After the first 75 steps, I balked at the need to hop on one foot clockwise around the car while waving a bag of chicken livers over my head. I decided to instead take my chances with self-bleeding, and simply kept a close eye on the temperature with my scanner, and checked the coolant level each morning for several days. No problems at all, but most customers just want to hop in and drive.
Your mileage may vary.

How it ended
Replacement Tank
Old Tank
New Tank Installede
Eventually I concluded that I was not going to find a reasonable second hand expansion tank or a new one at a reasonable price, so bought a generic tank off the internet. They seem to be freely available everywhere. Mine cost A$60 plus another $20 for the brass fitting (Pic 1).
Removal of the old tank was not easy, particularly the removal of the clamp attaching the rubber hose to the bottom of the tank (see tip 1 regarding this). The old tank was cracked in 4 different places, so no wonder it was leaking (Pic 2). Shame on Jaguar for using such poor-quality material.
The new tank fitted neatly in the space previously occupied by the old tank, but only one of the lugs on the side of the new tank was accessible once it was in place. However I managed to wedge one lug up against the firewall and firmly bolted the other to the metal mudguard panel so it will never move.
The plastic moulding around the tank needed to be trimmed in order to remove the cap from the tank (Pic 3).
The new tank has proved to be effective since installation.
Anyone planning to attempt this I give the following tips:
1. The clamp attaching the rubber hose to the bottom of the original tank is very difficult to remove, so just cut the hose. You will need to replace the hose anyway because the original hose is not long enough to reach the new tank, which is not as deep as the original tank.
2. Check the T-junction where the smaller hose from the tank joins two others above the throttle body. Mine started leaking once the new tank was installed and then disintegrated when I started to check it. More plastic Jaguar rubbish but easily replaced with a brass fitting.
3. The new tank has less volume in comparison to the old one (1.2 litres vs 2.3 litres), so you will need to arrange an overflow bottle of some kind from the new tank.
Good luck to anyone with this problem.

Why did you get that one and not the one Xalty posted that is made to fit that car? Maybe I missed something?
