Another Headlight Restoration Thread
OKay so we have had a bunch of discussion on the forum regarding headlight restoration and how to fix drooping headlights. I finally arrived at the best fix possible.
All new headlights left and right! Just what it took to give this 10 year old cat a nice facelift!
Happy New Year All!!

Thanks Michael! I just had enough of the constant polishing and yellowing, polishing and yellowing plus after 10 years there was some fading of the inside chrome too so the old ones just never looked right no matter what I did...
I found these from a breaker on eBay ($350 each including shipping). The donor car was a 2008 STR with less than 20K that someone poor unfortunate soul wrapped around a tree. Fortunately for me, there was no damage to either headlight and all tabs etc were intact!
I did splurge on all new bulbs Sylvania Silverstar high beam, parking and turn lamps as well as new HID/DS2 Sylvania Silverstar low beams. The new lights really are spectacular a real nice blue white that my old ones never had with the stock bulbs. I believe the new ones are 6500K as opposed to the stock which I believe were 4800K.
One item I do feel is important to mention, the new headlights DID NOT work with the control modules they came with. I thought the lights were bad, but on a whim I took the modules off of the old lights and put them on the new ones and VIOLA!!
I am curious though, does that mean that if you change out a headlight assembly or rather change the control module you need to make a trip over to the dealer to have them programmed? Guess its irrelevant as I just reused my old modules and it worked like a charm...
Thanks for the compliment, I do think it spruced up that front end and I couldnt be happier with the end result!

Seems like the good folks at Jaguar have tried at least to find a few little ways in which to keep us coming back if for nothing else than to use their computer!

Well at least now I wont have to polish every few weeks. I should be able to get several years out of them before they start that oxidization process!
Cheers!

Now to keep these looking factory-fresh, I highly recommend maintaining a coat (apply once in spring, again at beginning of winter) of REJEX (RejeX: Nothing Sticks but the Shine!) on 'em. My experience is that this will greatly slow (my '05 for instance still appears absolutely pristine!) the oxidation process, before it even begins. ...And as you note, this is such a differentiator in the appearance of our babies.

Anything to keep the years off of my baby!

Great stuff right here. I got tired of constantly polishing the headlights on my girls Honda. Bought these and no more polishing. I've had them on for a year!
