Default Another lug nut question..

There is nothing wrong with the lugs I currently have but have taken heed to the warnings.. Some have suggested the Gorilla brand that are around $100 for 20.. I came across these for less.. Any comments / advice ?

Amazon.com: DPAccessories LCM3C6HCOCH04020 20 Premium Chrome Mag Seat Lug Nuts for Factory/OEM Aluminum Wheels (M12x1.5): Automotive Amazon.com: DPAccessories LCM3C6HCOCH04020 20 Premium Chrome Mag Seat Lug Nuts for Factory/OEM Aluminum Wheels (M12x1.5): Automotive

and these...

I also read some lugs have broken around the stem but think it might be they were damaged by over tightening with an impact..

If you are still running the lousy factory capped lug nuts, get them off NOW and go with the solid lug nut design of your choosing. Far too many factory lug nut horror stories out there to risk getting trapped on the side of the road somewhere....

What Jon89 said, also torque them to 95 ft lbs and also a good idea, if you don't know already, is to apply some anti seize compound on the wheel where it meets the hub.

I have the Amazon set. Work just right. I tiny bit of anti-sieze on the studs and torque to 95 ft. lbs.

Thanks are these the ones you bought ? Amazon says "these do not fit 06 S Type" but the dimensions seem to be correct.

Those are chrome plated so you will get some rust as the lug nuts are put on and taken off but they won't fail like the factory lug nuts. I have had the Dorman lug nuts for 4-5 years and they work well. But I now have some rust on the edges where the impact sockets fit.

I also use a tiny dab of anti-seize on the lugs but be aware that all car manufacturers recommend no lube of any kind on lug nuts. Also if lubricated your toque values will be off to. I still do it because I don't want to get a lug nut stuck!

I can confirm that the Toyota lug nuts are indeed viable. I remember trying one of my wife's 2004 Lexus RX330's lug nuts on my S-Type in early 2009 before I decided to go with my Mitsubishi lug nuts. It was a perfect fit....

The set costs $31 delivered. If mine get any rust, I'll just get a new set. My Chevrolet "had" the Jag type junk. I replaced those too for only $21. Now if I could just get those expansion tanks to stop cracking...Heaven!

Hello everyone. We've been getting feedback from a few customers that there seems to be some confusion on this forum regarding correct lug nut fitment on the Jaguar S-Type with factory aluminum wheels.

Please see part number LCM4B6HCOCH06020 on Amazon and eBay. These will be a direct replacement for OEM part number C2C35294 and perfect for S-Types from 1999-2009.

I bought a set of solid heavy chrome lugnuts off eBay for £23-00 delivered.
19mm / 1.5 thread and 60 degree splay.
I cleaned up and re-used the locking lugnuts already fitted to the car.

There was a whole mixture of "suitable for the S type" and "not suitable for the S type". I searched using "Jaguar wheelnuts".

Wheelnuts not lugnuts here in UK.

Thank you for the feedback clubairth1 and we would still like to help if possible. When you say "supplier", who do you mean? In this case, we are the lug nut supplier. Also, can you provide a link to the parts listing you mentioned?

Are you sure it's this forum? There is another forum with a very similar name, based in the UK I think:

JaguarForum.com - The World's # 1 Jaguar Car Forum

They are ...forum (singular) and we are ...forums (plural).

Funny, That is the same lug I bought for mine and they work fantastic. My originals were rusted out and the wrong type. They do fit perfectly.
And yes, Amazon says it don`t fit. Ya right.

I wanted to chime in here and leave my opinion. I actually use the LCM3C6HCOCH04020 part on my XJ, (same wheels) and I find them superb for a couple of reasons. Understanding part LCM4B6HCOCH06020 is a 19mm direct replacement, I find no issues with the 21mm hex, in fact I prefer it. It's a meatier lug.

Now, to the shank. The 3C6H has a longer (deeper) shank than the original, engages more thread, and comes closer to meeting the rear of the wheel when installed than the originals. (this is a good thing BTW) The clamping force, is actually the contact area between the washer and the wheel itself, on the outside external facing surface. However, the thread engagement, and the number of threads, the closer it is to the hub itself, the less stress you will see at the hub, and in turn the rotor. Many people do not understand the way in which lug nut is engaged and tightened can affect these clamping forces. My XJ utilizes Series III front hub assemblies, and the hub itself is the outer bearing race for the wheel. The more threads and the closer one can get thread engagement to the actual hub itself, the better.

And lastly, to pay the price markup of 400% for the Gorilla lugs, (yes, that's the branded pic you have listed in your advertisement on Amazon) is obscene. Even if 24 caret gold plated. I'll still continue to advocate and advise the LCM3C6HCOCH04020 as a replacement. They have excellent build quality, good plating and better fitment. (Just an FYI, I worked over a decade at one of the Big 3 in the Parts and Service Division, and a certified ASE Master Tech, I do know what I'm saying here)

Thank you! Gotta love it when a manufacturer/distributor jumps into the forum and answers questions about its products. Very reassuring indeed.
