Default Anti Hijack "Possible Theft"

Hi all, new to the forum. I have a Jag (2000 S-Type 3.0 V6) ... was in an accident and had to replace dash and steering wheel after airbags blew up. Replacement dash came with cluster and the garage recklessly fitted the dash with its cluster (instead of retaining the original). End result (even after putting back original cluster): car alarm goes on, light on top of dash rapidly flashes, engine won't even make a sound, diagnosis reads "possible theft" . The steering wheel drops every time the key is placed in the ignition though, so there must be a little recognition. No?! Is there a way of convincing the car that everything is alright... a more manual way of reseting it?!

Welcome to the forum bigwilattitude,

I've copied the question from your Intro to S-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Hi

you need the too use the dealer tool to set it all up.
you need the sdd/ids program and the obdII connection it is called a mongoose or a clone.
there is no other way.

Awesome stuff. The garage did mention such a 'prescription', and are currently working on it. Did not trust them enough to do it right the second time around ...needed an enthusiast's second opinion before giving them a go ahead. For the record, I made so much noise that they are having to call in an official Jaguar dealer, and will be footing the bill.

Sounds like they forced it into anti-theft but are at least now going to put it right. Rather a pain but if they do then it'll be a relief!

Does the shop still have the original cluster?

I hope for you this can be repaired as the dealer is most likely to have the needed tool to get it working. With different IP and different odometer readings it is a real mess to fix.

Please post back if you can on the repair. Dealers most likely won't tell you what went on but it's worth a try.

Great to see you are getting a dealer fix, because this IC swap has more potential aggro that a box full of tomcats. FYI, that PATS light flashing indicates a "code" that is fully explained in JTIS. Not commonly referenced, but useful to diagnose accurately.

Best wishes for getting back on the road,

Ken
