Any KC Area Jag Owners? Need Mechanic Recommendation
I have a local guy I affectionately call "cooter" who takes any work I do not want to do myself (which most due to time constraints lately).
He builds drag cars and can rebuild an engine blindfolded. However as his nickname suggests, I do not think having him work on my Jag and its - shall we say - "nuances" would be wise.
Any local owners to the Kansas City area (MO side but KS would be okay too) that can recommend a good mechanic/independent that would keep me from taking the car to Aristocrat where they do not understand the concept of 3 figure repairs... for anything?
At this point, I know I need at least the following:
- Exhaust manifold replacement
- Front control arms/ball joints
- DCCV/CCM or other (no heat)
I have no signs of cam tensioner failure (zero rattle) but the idea scares the heck out of me, so maybe some preventive maintenance along with timing belt, water pump and a host of other things that may or may not have been done on a car with ZERO history.
And I know other things will crop out.
I factored most of the above in the purchase price and got this Jag beauty for a song. At the end of the day though I know some money is about to get spent I just cant give a dealer 5 or 10 grand
EDIT - I should add that I did read the sticky on the subject and the one number in my area I have called for a few days and it just rings

I know of a guy in the Gladstone area who would more than likely work on it. He's a master mechanic who is currently going to school for mechanical engineering. I wouldn't say he has experience with Jaguars but simple repairs such as what you requested wouldn't scare him. I'll find his number and PM you.
