Default any s type owners who have a x type?

so my s type hit a pothole in march and i swore i would NOT buy another unless it was s t r.
but i have a list of specifications i want for it....
so in the mean time i have a celica lol no comparison to the jaguar i wanna replace with another jag but dont want to jump right into another s.... as stated above

what (in your experience) was the differences in the s to the x?
smooth driving?
speed?
comfort?
gas?
anything....
im not going based on look (for me the s type holds it all)

I was given one years ago as a loaner when my new STR was in for some warranty work. And I thought it was the biggest piece of garbage I ever drove. Noisy, rough riding , plastic interior, etc. the loaner was like driving a really cheap Ford. But that was years ago and probably the base model at the time. But it left a lasting impression.

It is a totally different car than the S type. The X type was built on a economy Mondeo Ford platform. The STR is on an expensive DEW platform, and still used today on the XF.

Thank you! All I needed to know
Its hard driving the s and the str and downgrading to ANYTHING ELSE.
I'm so concerned buying a new s after the last one. I literally put $5,000 in 5 months into it

I agree on the X summary above.

Some people love them, so be it.

My wife got interested in a 2009 LE (46000kms) here last week, and kind of thought of "upgrading" her S for that.

OOPS.

We went through the motions, I dont argue anymore, and she drove it, and 25 seconds into the drive, STOPPED, told the sales guy riding shotgun what she thought and walked back to the lot, and got ino her S, and the sigh of relief was priceless.

When you want to replace your S, use what you learnt on here. Drive many examples, become a PITA buyer, which is not that hard really. Always remember that the car you are looking at is for sale for a REASON, and the blurb from the seller is just that.

He wants your money, you want a car. It is a business deal, nothing more or less.

You had an X200 from memory, which were the earlier cars, and the X202 is deemed a better car.

Good luck.

Hi grant!
Thank you for the input
Yes it was x200 (2002 s)

Lol I've learned my lesson in what to look for and honestly I think I'm gonna stick to looking for a decent 4.2 or str that's not beat in my general area!

I've heard x type to start was nice but going from s to x sucks that's why I asked...

Thank you guys

Good luck in your search for another car!

One thing.... Do yourself a favor, keep some money tucked away for unexpected repairs, because as you know, they will pop up when you least expect it!
