Anyone ever heard of this Speedshift....
I was ing around like normal while I wait for my summer classes to start and came across this on a British Jag tuner site.
Racing Green Jaguar. - S-Type 1999 onwards, SpeedShift sequential gear change
Anyone ever heard of this?? It sounds very cool if it works good. Anyone across the pond have experience with this or know anything about it?? May help some of us that complain about the early shifting on the trans. They also list the Arden ECU upgrade as a piggyback in case some people were wondering.

That sounds great for the uk guys. Maybe they would consider selling it to over seas customers since shipping the car there would be out of the question?
I know about the Arden, it has a Y cable and interfaces as a piggy back. Its the best option for cracking the ecu but at 4K its so far out of reality it might as well not even exist.

Seven years is a long time in the auto industry. Jag was already slow about this back in 2003. Yeah it should have made it to their cars soon than new XK, XJ and XF. Oh well, the car is still fun to drive this way.

I have the Racing Green Speedshift installed on my 2000 XKR, it was purchased about 4 years ago. The kit was developed for them by an engineer from the Mclaren F1 team during his spare time. The kit installed on my car was early on in the development so we were shipping parts back & forth for a few months. Keith in the performance department & I became good friends during the install process, & were able to get it to work. The kit basically overides the J gate, similar to the paddle shift on the new Jags. It is a great mod that takes app a day to install.

More probably they didn't want to spend the research and development dollars for a dead line of cars or they thought their customer base didn't care. But ... they were dragged into the future and it works very nicely indeed on the new line of cars that have automatics.

Jason; your GTI trans is a totally different beast than this...and that is a good thing. Your DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) is a techno marvel in the fact that it is one of the best automated manual transmissions out there in a basically "budget" car. Not that they haven't put automated manuals in cheap cars before... The Smart Fortwo has one but it is absolutely horrible. Kind of like the early Ferrari's that had the paddle shifted manuals. They were clunky and horrible. The VW/Audi DSG is a beautiful trans. Shifts nice in auto mode and hooks up great with launch control.
The major difference here without going to deep... Your GTI is a computer controlled manual transmission while many of the rest (Jaguar, Benz, some BMW's, my 300c) are automatics with manual over ride. You still get the slip from the torque converter and hydraulic clutches that you get in any automatic box. That DSG box along with the great 2.0 turbo engine is why, despite not being the most powerful, the GTI has really become the darling of the hot compact market.
Now the shift buttons that this company makes for the J-Gate car is neat...BUT... wow, what a cost! My 300C may not be all that sophisticated, but for less than $300 I was able to get a handheld tuner that lets me write a bunch of changes to the computer..Including tuning the Auto-Stick function. I can over ride upshift and downshift protocols along with gear change speed (shift harshness) and every gear's shift point. This thing is awsome..But then again the potential customer base is much greater... Another funny thing... The auto-stick is just barely better to use than the J-Gate. There is a popular mod to add Benz shift paddles and electronics to the LX cars steering wheel... Very similar to this mod..
