Default Anyone ever installed the Dealer Sirius kit?

I am looking at the dealer sirius kit for my 2004 S-Type, but am not very enamoured with the price or the type of reciever it uses. I was wondering if anyone has installed this kit before, and if so is there a satellite antenna lead there already, or do you need to add a satellite antenna? I assume there is some kind of switched power as well available.

Finally, do you know if the dealer installed kit just uses the FM transmitter, or is it in some way hard wired to the radio?

If you have the instructions postable, that woudl be fabulous.

Thanks!

Chuck

I have installed may. It comes with instructions on install.
It is wired through an fm modulator. It is not a great kit. Works but that is all I can say.
For that kind of money, you are better off getting a nice stilleto 2 and having it custom installed. Will still be cheaper and will work far better.

On a similar, yet different note, what about a kit to plug in an ipod? Does such a thing exist for the 2003 era Jag?

sorry about the high-jack.

You need the audio connectivity module.

You can see different peoples opinions on it by doing a search for ACM or audio connectivity module. X-Type forum was hopping with it for a while. It is not FM Modulated. Wires directly into audio unit. It is ok as a Hybrid unit, but doesnt allow full control of ipod while in charging port. You can however put it into the rca jacks and have full control.

Thanks for the advice. With the dealer kit, did you still need to run a seperate sirius radio antenna? Seems like that may be the only benefit if you didn't need to put a magnetic antenna on the car, like you would with a Stilleto?

I would imagine if there is an antenna that is usable there, you could leverage it with any of the aftermarket kits?

Thanks!

There is no Satellite antenna in the car. You have to run it seperately and yes, it is the same antenna as any other aftermarket kit.

A note on the antenna. on my 08 S-type I had the dealer put in the sirius unit. I didn't like the antenna stuck on the roof like it just came from Best Buy. I wound up moving it to the dash right behind the auto lamp sensor. Its works fine and looks cleaner.

But, you don't have to go with sirius. A small xm radio will fit in the center console ashtray. I added one in that manner to my wifes 02 X5.

I put my XM antenna inside the rear window on the rear shelf and it works great.

I had mine on the rear deck. But my window tinting interfered with it. It seems most aftermarket tints have metallics in them.

I installed mine. Here is a Jaguar website that has all the manuals and install instructions. http://www.jaguartechinfo.com/extfre...prod/index.jsp

I found the site very helpful. The install was pretty straight forward. Just take your time and follow the instructions. The hardest part was the antenna wire running around the window seal. Be sure to pick up a set of nylon pry bars / trim tools. You can find them at Summit Racing or Harbor Freight. I have attached the install manual as well. Good luck and enjoy.

I know this is an old thread, but I currently have a portable Sirus System and have seen that my 2005 S-Type already has the antenna already mounted. Where would I find a factory install kit, the ashtray type I have seen pictures of so I can upgrade from my portable unit?

Thanks,

Crazy Lee
