Default Auto foglights?

My 2002 you could turn the headlight switch to the right for auto and then pull out for the fog lights to come on auto with the headlights (nice feature to discover) but how do I auto turn on my fog lights on my STR? It really annoys me that I have to click a button to turn them on with my headlights

Is there a way to make them come on together?

I've searched and couldn't find anything... Hmmm any clues?

They're auto sensing so if no fog then no lights.

(I wish. Over here it's illegal to have them on without need. But still the idiots drive with them on.)

Simply put...The fog lamp switch was separated from the headlamp switch.. I don't know for sure but it may have something to do with sharing switch gear with other Jaguars from 2003 and up or that they added rear fog lamps so added individual switches for each. They definitely aren't tied to the headlamps except that you can't run highbeams and fog lamps at once (except the rears).

Then maybe time for a simple jumper wire in the fuse box to tigger fogs with headlights along with fogs and high beams MUAHAHAHA!!

I don't think that would work. I thought of doing something like this too, as I miss the feature of leaving the fogs on when the headlights come on like my bmw had. The fog light switch is a momentary contact switch that basically just sets the fog light relay. You would need something to "pulse" the fog light switch, rather than just jumper it to on. I've thought about designing a circuit for it.

Jumping the 2 fuses together will draw from the headlight circuit to power the fogs, it would bypass the dash altogether.

I don't think the headlight fuse or it's wiring is designed to have double the power drawn from it. I see what you're thinking - but I'd have to check the wiring diagrams to see if it's viable. If there are relays involved, tripping the foglight relay with the headlight relay's output may be a viable way to do this.

I used to sell the kits for the dodge rams, which are similar, (momentary switch for fogs) and the kit would be a harness triple fused and was designed to trigger the fogs on the low beams, and keep them on with the high beams.

Do you have a schematic for it?

I'm sure it could be done, but it's not as simple as jumping two wires together.

We could easily build kits, not a big deal there.

Let me ask a dumb question- WHY would you want the fogs on all the time with the main beams? They add very little additional visibility during clear night time conditions.

I find it almost as annoying as people who drive with the rear fogs on all the time. Jus sayin'

Mikey, simply put, people think it looks cool.

Theres virtually no added benefit in visibility when on to the driver. It's also illegal in most states to drive with them on without fog/rain and gives cops yet another excuse to pull you over.

Really? 3/4 of the cars on the Road here in NJ routinely drive with headlights and foglights on, I have NEVER heard of anyone getting pulled over for it in the States. Europe is a different story, they are **** about this sort of thing...

I had dual layered 5% on the Lincoln and 80% on the windshield to cut night time glare out
