Lightbulb autobox advice

hi all...

Have owned my s type for over 2 years now and still love it....

anyway since I've owned it I've noticed a whine coming from the gearbox in neutral, which changes to a rubbing type noise when shifted to drive. Its more noticeable when cold and quietens down once warmed up.....i've done over 20k with the issue and had no problems, but its just an irritation more than anything.

changes gear fine, no juddering....

its the v8 4.0 2000plate

my question is......should i go for a fluid change (£260) and see if that sorts it out or just go for a full rebuild and reconditioning instead?

anyone else had these symptoms?

cheers
paul

At least the fluid is cheap for the Ford 5R55N box!

I hope someone will know about the noise.

I take it you'd go to an autobox specialist? (I would, if going anywhere.)

Fluid change seems reasonable price....

I take the motor to a local jaguar specialist who also specialise in jag gearbox rebuilds, etc...
