Default Automatic Seat Adjustment on 2000 S type

This feature was really impressive at first and made me feel like I was driving a "special" car but after a while it looses its novelty and now I just find it annoying.

Im sure you know what I'm talking about. When I remove the key from ignition, the seat shifts all the way back and the steering wheel lifts. I dont mind the steering wheel movement as it makes it easier to swing my legs in and out but Im not a basketball player so I dont need that much room to get in and out. All this does, is crush my rear passenger if he doesnt hop out of the car before I do, and wastes my time while shifting back and forth.

Is there any way to deactivate this feature?

Thanks

Yes you can do activate it. I also found it annoying and turned it off.. I don't remember exactly but I think you do some push/pull or move the *** on the steering (which adjusts it).

I'll check again when I get in the car in the evening... by that time you might already have deactivated it by yourself or with someone's help .

Thanks,
Rizwan

Default Mine doesn't work

On my 2007 S-type, this feature has stopped working. Even with the control in Auto the driver's seat and column don't retract at switch-off. They do work under manual control so the motors must be OK. Any ideas?

Default Rats

Mine stopped working. Since that time, I've ripped a few 1500 dollar soft leather jackets. I have a new seat rail coming next month I believe, and the cost of that is 2000, (paid under warranty of course).

I can always sell you guys my broken one and I'll take your good one as a backup..... LOL.

I was doing some interior cleaning this weekend and when I cleaned the front windshield I moved the steering wheel all the way down. What I found from this is that where you place the seat and steering wheel when the key is out of the ignition is where it returns when the key is removed.

Try positioning the steering wheel and seat to the desired position for when the key is removed - Do this with the key out of the ignition.

Hope this makes sense and helps.

Thumbs up That did it!

Works exactly like that. I have previously adjusted the seat and column to my driving position without the key in the ignition. Thus, this is the 'retract position' and therefore doesn't move when the key is inserted or removed. Now by adjusting to a retract position without the key, when the key is inserted the seat and column move to the driving position. The handbook doesn't describe this at all well. Thanks once again.
