I'm 1001% sure is reading the VSS only real way to disable it is a software change I'm game to cook a nav disk and disable the vss logic to grey out the buttons.

Warning if I try this and something happens because they were messing with the gps driving I will NOT be responsible nor liable.

I wonder if a custom nav software port is possible that runs under GNU/GPL and use maps from Tom Tom. For kick a$$ POI's

I thought I'd answered. I was just in gear. I was not actually moving. Glad to see they don't allow this. I wonder why they've differentiated between "in gear, not moving" and "in gear, moving"? Sort of begs the question of "not in gear, moving" (rolling downhill in neutral). Chances are it's the movement that blocks access.

I just bought a second set of CDs for the Ford (2006 Expedition) Nav system. The one I use all the time was really chewed up by the system and NavTeq wouldn't sell a single disc. I had the unit fixed and bought new discs....which ate up the money for the new version of the Jag navigation disc....durn. Now I have 11/12 of a Ford system that's excess to my needs and a 2 year old Jag disc. Here I come ebay....

The nav system should double check itself. Checks for VSS signal from a a PU sensor used for the speedo since all on the same bus. And via satellite.

Same way pioneer alpine Sony brand x work.

They want $199 for a new Nav DVD...!!!

That's why I want the previous version on an original disc for about $50-$75 for the car . I could stomach that. Then the balance on a portable.

But I still like Googlemaps, Mapquest and hand held maps for a planned trip.

But if you suddenly need to find something that's not gonna work.

I have a "BD" edition that we no longer need. It was the disc that came with our 2005 S-Type.

Thanks Eric. I'm looking for the BH version which is 2008-2009 I think?

There is an guy on Ebay selling copies of the BH but I'd like an original.

I don't believe there was a BI and BJ is for 2009-2010.
